Recently  adopted Puppies!

  • After claiming a puppy, our families continue to check in and watch our website for updates as their puppy grows and becomes ready to begin bonding!

  • Many folks like to send along a care package for their new family member to enjoy here with their littermates and take home some familiar toys/blanky/bed on homecoming day! Once homecoming day arrives, we meet with the new forever family and help them add their new addition to the family!

puppies are getting snapped up !! We have heard from several folks looking to adopt a beagle that they are hard to find in the colder months since other local breeders dont have our indoor whelping /birthing room puppies cant make it out in the winter weather in a cage so we have some

Someone once told me its like reading a soap opera every day...
I just cant wait to tune in !!   She said I love seeing who is available and when they get adopted just how perfectly they match the new family who convinced you all they would treat them the best... she said I know you have so many people wanting them, you have to try to determine who will spoil them, but give them discipline at the same time  so they turn out to be the perfect indoor housepet ! - so true !!

If you are the happy family of one of these cuties, remember that we love to receive updates and/or pictures whenever you can pass those along! We enjoy seeing how our puppies are fitting in & growing up in their forever homes!

Ruby's "Piper" Tricolor Girl is claimed by Natalie
she has already sent along a care package for her girlie and littermates to enjoy !

Good Afternoon Miss C and Kids,

Sorry its been so long for you guys to receive an update. Been so busy, finally have time to sit in front of a computer.

As we mentioned before we named her Piper. She is such a joy and a ball of pure energy! The 8 hour drive back home she spent the majority sleeping, so that was great. Her stomach adjusted great to the change of water, first nights she cried for attention, but now she is sleeping through the night.

This was her the first night, she was very comfortable, lol!:

She has been attending puppy school for the last 2 weeks and is making lots of friends.

My niece MJ plays High School Tennis, so Piper is enjoying all the tennis balls she finds in the house!

She enjoys cuddle-ling up on the couch and watching tv with us:

And always finds room, no matter where it is, to "try" to take a nap, the constant camera flashes interrupt her. hahaha.

I think by now though, she realizes what the camera does, and starts to pose!

She likes being outdoors as well, but with the amazing spring weather we've been having, we haven't had much time to take her out to the parks and the beach. So those pictures are sure to come your way!

Thanks again for the opportunity to adopt this amazing girl!

New Port Richey Florida !

Hi Miss C

I'm going to send you guys more pics but I have to get on my other computer to do it.
I guess that is all for now I can't say thank you enough he has really helped us a lot.
Thanks again,
Sarah

I'm going to send you more pics within the next couple of days.

In fact, he walked in like he owned the place : ) I brought him to work for the first time Friday and everyone fell in love with him and wants me to bring him back every day. Here's a few pics - that last one, he was just about to fall asleep, so I tucked him in, so adorable!!

"He is simply wonderful! Since coming home and having "normal" bm's, he has had hardly any accidents, he is getting on a schedule, and even likes to terrorize Maddie. :) She doesn't mind one bit, they chase each other around the house and play outside too, as Maddie will walk on a leash, and enjoys going outside. :) "

" I am attaching a few pictures of the "boys" for you, I will send more soon, but have been pretty busy! The one of the puppy laying in Tristan's lap is just after we surprised him with him, and the outdoors ones were taken yesterday after school. Trevor is bringing out the inner puppy in Heidi again and she likes to play with him.

"Lutzie", Skylar's Khaki Mini Male has been adopted by Ashley & Dave Mitchell!
They have also now claimed their second sunshine beagle, Xerxes!

Ashley & Dave live in AL where Dave is starting a new business and Ashley is a student who will be home a lot!
They have a fenced in yard with a doggy door, and are looking forward to having their older beagle Winston pass on his experience to their newest addition!

"How it all started

I have been following your site for a couple of months now. My husband and I were looking for a puppy for my grandmother, who had to put her dog to sleep in mid August. This made me realize that it might be time for us to invest in a puppy of our own. We already have an 11 year old beagle that has been with me since he was 4 weeks old. He has always been around other dogs. We also had a black lab that we had to put to sleep in January at 14 years old. So, my beagle had been an only dog for a while. I decided to look for a puppy to adopt from a shelter for her, instead of getting one from a breeder. I wanted to do the noble thing and try to rescue a dog that might otherwise not have a chance for a good life. In my search, I found a puppy for her and an older dog (about 5 years old) that captured our hearts. On August 17th we set off to pick both dogs up.

My grandmother is very active for her age, so we were sure she could handle a new dog. We turned out to be incorrect and the dog was jumping out of her fence and she was not able to continue to chase it around the neighborhood. So, unfortunately she had to return the dog we adopted on her behalf. Since we had paid the adoption fee and to have him tested at the vet, he already had all medicine he needed paid for and they were able to offer him at a much reduced price. He was adopted shortly after the return, so all worked out well in the end for him.

About our dogs

SARGE

The 5 year old neutered male beagle (Sergeant or “Sarge” as we call him) that we adopted is still with us. After adopting him, we took him to the vet and found he had heartworms. This was only after a negative test and us not believing that everything was okay with him. We took him to the emergency clinic for a second opinion, where he tested positive for heartworms. I took him back to our vet the next week and they confirmed the positive test. The next week we began treatment. He got his last two shots at the beginning of October and goes back tomorrow for them to listen to his heart and make sure he can be released for exercise, since they have to rest for the entire time they are undergoing the heartworm treatment to prevent any further harm. This is only one the problems we are facing with him.

Often times the beagle rescue has told us that they sadly end up with dogs who have health issues such as heartworm, becuase the previous owner didn't invest the time of money to properly care for their beagle. We admire people like Ashley who go the extra mile for rehabilitating a dog from an unknown background.
They have been working with a dog trainer to help Sarge become better integrated with their existing dog and comfortable in their home,

"WINSTON

My 11 year old neutered male beagle (Winston) was purchased at pet store when he was just 4 weeks old. I was younger then and did not know of the problems associated with buying from pet stores. He is like my child. He has slept in the bed with me and now us for his entire life. The trainer says he is very well balanced. He had a senior work up back in March and had some abnormally high blood test results for liver and kidney values. I took him to Memphis to see the specialists and he is now on blood pressure medicine. He kidney values have come down to normal and we are monitoring the liver values. He was very overweight back when he was 5 and tore ligaments in both his knees. We took him to Memphis then to have the surgery and he has been as good as new since. He gets walked about 2 miles every day. When it too hot or cold, I have taught him to walk on the treadmill with no leash. He would like to be able to play with another dog some, but Sarge doesn’t understand how to play with other dogs yet.

Since Winston is such a good dog, and so well trained (the trainer was surprised when she kept him for two days on her 13 acre property and could walk him off leash) I would like for him to be able to pass some of his good behavior on to a puppy. I don’t want something to happen to Winston before he can pass some of wisdom on to another dog. Although, Sarge is taking some cues from Winston. A few times that Winston has seen something in the backyard and gone out the dog door to howl about it, Sarge has followed and howled with him. I also feel that maybe if Sarge saw how Winston interacted with another dog, he would learn more quickly what he is supposed to do. I feel like it is not fair to Winston, having been around other dogs his entire life, not to have another stable dog that he can be friends with. For all these reasons and that I think it is the right time in our life, I believe one of your puppies would be a great addition to our household.

About us

My name is Ashley. My husband is David (Dave). He is 35 years old and I will be 31 years old in one month. We currently live in Muscle Shoals, AL. Until about a month ago, he was the president of a large glass company in Memphis, TN. He is now working on starting a business with his best friend, while doing some consulting work. He is very much a business minded guy. I was laid off a couple of years ago. I am currently going back to school for electrical engineering. Who knows, I might get my masters and teach college for the excellent hours and flexibility they have. I am currently only taking 2 classes because of all the time needed to try and rehabilitate our recently adopted dog. My schedule is currently adaptable to the needs of our animals. We have been married for 6 years and together for 8 years. We have no plans to have children. Our beagles are our children. We like the freedom of being able to travel and do things just the two of us.

Taking care of the new puppy

YARD

We have a fenced in back with a dog door leading to a covered patio in the fence. We will probably initially try the bathtub thing you suggest with the bed at one end and newspaper at the other. If we ever moved, a fence and dog door would be a requirement before the dogs and I would join Dave at a new house. I can’t believe we ever lived without the dog door, now that we have one."

We also love doggy doors and think it is great for a pethome to have!

"HOUSE

We have dog steps leading to both couches in the living room, the bed in our room, and the ottoman upstairs in front of the window, where Winston often goes to look out and make sure nothing funny is going on the neighborhood. We have a dog bed for each dog in the living room.

HEALTHCARE

We take Winston to an internal medicine specialist at Memphis Veterinary Specialists. We will take Sarge to the dentist there, as they can do root canals and crowns and lots more than a regular vet can do. If the puppy ever needed special medical care, we already have a relationship established with several specialists at this great facility.

OUTSIDE INFLUENCES

As mentioned earlier, my schedule is flexible for the dog’s needs. Right now I am only gone for about 4 hours 2 days a week. My husband is also home a lot now, since he is working on starting a business and not having to travel back and forth to Memphis every week. When we do go on vacation, we board the dogs with our trainer, Jane. Winston has never boarded at the vet, unless he was there for a medical procedure. Jane is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA). She has traveled all over the world rehabilitating different kinds of animals. We are very fortunate to have someone like her in our area. She doesn’t use kennels. She keeps the dogs in her house and takes them on two walks around her 13 acre property a day. After the first of the year, we will probably be taking the dogs out to her property at least once a month to help Sarge get more socialized and hopefully over his fear of everything."

We thought it was neat to hear about their local in-home boarding. We also do that here for our beagles only, they stay in our home and have a big fenced in backyard to romp and play with the other sunshine beagles!
Our customers feel this is much better than going into cement floor chainlink kennels
We joke with folks its like they get to have their own vacation too, with their first family and we love seeing how our babies have grown up ! :)

" If the perfect puppy came along, the earliest we can take one is January. If you had a puppy come along that captured our hearts or one that you knew would match my preferences, we would definitely not want to pass him up as long as it is January before he needed to come home. We will be going on a cruise the last week in November. Next, we go to Jamaica every year for 10 days in December. We get back the day before Christmas Eve. Have all the family stuff for two days, and then we go stay with my mom until after the 1st of the year. She has dogs and we can bring ours, but I feel we need more time before taking a puppy with us to someone else’s house.

Color, Gender, and Marking preferences

COLOR and GENDER

We would like Khaki male. I am just partial to the guys, I guess.

MARKINGS and NOSE COLOR

I would like for him to have a blaze, as both of my current beagles do. I don’t want open markings. I would really love it if his nose would stay more to the pink side. Both the beagles I have now have the pinkish or liver (whatever they call it) colored noses. I am including pictures of them so you can see a little about our house, us, and our dogs. I am not sure if most khaki color beagles have this kind of nose or not. In some of the pictures on your site, the older khaki beagles look to have darker noses. This could just be a result of the lighting. I am not sure that you can predict the coloring of the nose overtime. I thought that maybe since you had been doing this for so long, you would know what traits in the parents would lend themselves to the puppy having this characteristic.

Winston Relaxing on the couch            In one of his favorite spots.

Sarge After using the doggie stairs to get on the couch .          Where Sarge sleeps, at the foot of our bed.

Even though there is bed for each of them, both boys sharing a bed.

" thanks so much for taking the time to read my “book” that I have sent you. I wanted to be sure to include all the information you were looking to find out. I apologize if it has taken up your entire morning or afternoon to get through my email. Please let me know if you need any other info. If not, and you believe we would be a good match for one of your puppies, let me know how to proceed with the deposit.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Ashley "

Thank you the Ashley for the personalized MM's, we had never seen those before but they are so neat!

There are two different Grace beagle faces and a "Sunshine Acres" M&M's in there :)

Thanks so much to Ashley Mitchell!!!!!
Ashley has been sending along wonderful care for us and our beagles here at Sunshine Acres- one day a big bed and 6 big boxes of Iams Biscuits arrived, a nice container for dog food and a big 40 lbs bag of Eukanuba Small Breed Puppy food!!!!

Hi Christi!
Awesome!!! Yes, Yes, Yes, we want to make it official! Your mom is the best for helping to persuade the Graepals toward the silvers that they originally wanted. This is wonderful news, as we are leaving on a cruise tomorrow. I have a bed and some toys to send for the puppy, but will have to wait until we get back from our cruise to get them sent off. I can't wait to get back from Jamaica and come pick up the little sweetie pie. I probably should try to stop and enjoy our 2 vacations, instead of wishing they were over so I could meet the little one. Will he be ready toward the end of the week after Christmas, say Thursday or Friday? I do feel a little bad for Seashell's boy. He is just precious and I hope he finds an excellent home to join.

I am glad everything made it to you guys okay and that you needed the storage container. I have a few more items for you guys to send with the puppy stuff when I get back from my cruise on Monday, December 3rd. In addition to the toys, I have bought a small collar and leash for our new child. Would you guys like for me to send those with the puppy stuff or just keep it and bring it with me when we come to pick up our baby? I wasn't sure how early you started to take them out on leashes.

Can't wait to see the new pictures :) Thanks again for best news I have gotten all year!!!

Take care,
Ashley Mitchell

newly peeking eyes~!

Ashley has sent another care package, and it truly feels like Christmas around here!

Ashley and her hubby had us hold onto her baby a bit longer while they went on their annual vacation to Jamaica Couples Resort

Lutzie loves his new mommy!

Ashley checks out the MM's she sent with Grace's face on them- and Grace looks on proudly.

The Mitchells bring more gifts for Sunshine Acres!!

Bunches of big beds for the doggies, a hide the treat game, and clothes from Jamaica!! Coffee from Jamaica too!

Grace modeling again :)

I also attached a pic of his cage area and him lounging on Winston, our 11 year old.
Sarge (the rescue) is in memphis waiting to have surgery monday, but Lutzie and Sarge were getting to be good friends before we took sarge to memphis. Lutzie went with us to memphis and slept the whole way and then even slept while we were in the surgeon's office talking. Everyone thought he was just adorable. I forgot to bring your cards with me, but i will when we pick sarge up next friday.
Lutzie is such a good puppy. He even went out in the rain tonight to use the yard! Earlier today he was in his cage eating a bone and started whining. I picked him up and took him outside. He peed and came back in the dog door and then went to his cage and started whining and scratching at it. I put him back in it and he went right back to eating his bone.. He would much rather go outside than on the pee pee pads in his cage. He just uses the pads once at night and goes outside the rest of the time.

"Couldn't have asked for a better baby. He loves to sleep with our other boys. He wakes up from a nap, goes hurry up outside, plays for 45 minutes or so, and then wants to nap again. I have already taught him to sit. Incredibly smart little guy!
Hopefully everything is going well for you guys. Hope the Jamaica stuff fit everyone. I sent a bag of puppy food for you guys as a thank you for giving us such a great little baby :) it should arrive on wednesday. Do you need puppy or adult food more? What kind of adult food do you feed your doggies?
Ashley"

 "Miss C,
Since Bethany is Lutzie's sister and she has not been claimed yet, I thought I would sent some of the things that are Lutzie's favorite toys and chew things for her to enjoy. I guess if she wants to share with Tinsel or another puppy, she is welcome to spread the fun around. If someone claims her and takes her home before the package arrives, you can just pass it along to next puppy that needs some fun things to play with. Should be delivered on Tuesday. I will send you the shipment confirmation with the exact delivery date as soon as Amazon sends it to me.
These are the items I ordered for her:

Here are a few pics of Lutzie. The last 4 show him looking at your website, his sister Bethany specifically. I think in the last one he was trying to share his bone with her!
Ashley Mitchell"
(Lutzie sets his little bone down next to his sister's pictures trying to share it with her!)

  "Miss Christina,
I just sent you 3 emails with pics of Lutzie. The last one has some of him in a blue sweater like the pink one I ordered for Bethany, his sister. His is an X-small. I got her a small because his is getting to be a little short now that he is growing so fast! Please let me know if you don't receive all the pics and I will try to resend. I tried to not make the emails too big to go through. I just got your email on my phone. I am sooo glad you liked the pics. I thought it was really cute too! It was right before I decided to order those things for Bethany. I was looking at your site and Lutzie just would not leave the computer alone with his sister on it. Maybe Bethany should thank him a little too for reinforcing my decision to send her a few things :)"

Miss Christina,
Here are a few pics that I had on my phone and haven't sent to you guys yet. The last one is Lutzie sleeping with my 11 year old, 15 inch beagle, Winston. I could barely get Lutzie in the picture with Winston taking up so much of it!

Lutzie is doing great. He is a very smart puppy. He goes to daycare with dog trainer every Wednesday for socialization. She always says she is amazed at how confident he is. This has to come from the great way you raised him, exposing him to more than just a pen in a backyard. She says that everyone that comes out to pick their dog want to take him home with them. I saw it one day when I was there to pick him up... A mom with 2 kids were picking up their 8 month old puppy(some kind of terrier). The kids wanted nothing to do with their dog and just wanted to pet Lutzie. Saying "Our dog is not this calm. She just runs around and jumps all the time." The mom asked where I got him. I told her I did a lot of research to find the right place to get a puppy. She said that she wished she had done that also. I am sure they love their puppy, but she is not a Sunshine Acres puppy, and that makes all the difference... He is pretty much housebroken now, at 16 weeks :), unless it is raining out. He loves the dog door. Every day that it is nice outside, he goes out and plays in the backyard, taking a few breaks to come inside, crawl in my lap, and take a little nap. He knows sit, down, stay, come, shake, high five, and we are currently working on wave.

"Just wanted to send you an update before you got too busy with the new springtime babies arriving. Hopefully our next little baby will arrive soon, if he hasn't already :)  I know Lutzie will be sooooo excited when our next baby gets to come home, as the older dogs don't want to play quite as much he does. I hope the email I sent you Thursday morning about our timeframe and preferences did come through to you. I sent it from my cell phone while at school, so let me know if you didn't get it and I will resend.

Keep up the great work raising those special little cuties for all of us to enjoy!!!
Ashley Mitchell"

March3rd: "Sometimes, something just speaks to you, like our adopted baby, Sarge (the rescue beagle). Lord, if I had known all that we would go through with him, well I probably would have adopted him anyway, but it has not been easy. So many health issues, it has been hard for us to deal with the behavior issues, which is really only that he is scared of soooooooo many things. I just can't understand how anyone can treat a dog, especially a beagle that way to make him so scared of everything.

Not to discourage anyone from adopting, but this is what we have gone through with Sarge:
August - adopted him, found out he had heartworms and whipworms
September - started treatment for heartworms, he had to be on crate rest and was so anxious we couldn't put him in a crate without him breaking out, contacted behavior specialist
October- second round of heartworm treatment, should have been continued crate rest, but he would stay in crate, so we had to be home to watch him.
November - heartworm treatment over, yea!!!! Took to a doggie dentist, had to have 8 teeth removed from all the abscesses he had. Dentist said he probably was in pain 24 hours a day before this happened.
December - We were out of town/country, torn ACL.
January - Took to specialist, fixed knee. Found out he is actually, 7-8 years old instead of 4-5 years old based on eye aging of specialist instead of teeth aging by regular vet.
February - recovery from knee surgery. Took to internal medicine specialist, because of consistent cough. She thinks it is from heartworms, but not sure yet without more tests.
March - recovery from knee surgery; bone is healing well, but not completely healed yet. Have to go in 9 weeks for more x-rays.

I know that you always say on your website that people don't know what there getting into when they get a dog with an unknown background. I will say that doing the "noble thing" has cost us a lot of money so far, at least $7,000. When you look at that amount compared to what you charge for a puppy, it is hardly a decision at all. Of course, we would not trade Sarge for anything at this point. We are committed to giving him at least a few good years of life. Just thought you might be able to pass this insight to some other people. I would not want to discourage anyone from adopting, but they need to know what they might be getting into when they do adopt.

I am very happy to be dealing with someone that i know cares about their dogs. So, I know I would absolutely love any puppy you would bless us with. I just know with you I can specify color/markings and all of your puppies personalities are miles ahead of anyone else who ever thought about breeding beagles :) You definitely do the breed justice.

"Just wanted to send you these pics that my husband had sent to me.

1st and 2nd pics are of our three boys sleeping on the couch together. Winston, is suppose to be lemon, who knows that is what he was registered as though. Winston is 11 years old, 15 inches and 32 lbs. Sarge, our adoptee, I think is chocolate. He is between 7 and 8 years old, 13 inches, and 24 lbs. And last but, definitely not least, Lutzie. Lutzie is a little over 8 lbs now at 4 months old. I thought maybe seeing them all together would give you a better idea of what we already have. And maybe a clue as to why I am a little more drawn to the easier to spot unique colors. It is pretty easy to notice all the ones we have are unique colors. Lutzie is the first one that I looked for a unique color on. I just lucked into the other two.

The 3rd pic is of Lutzie's little play area, so you can see where he is in the 4th one.  He is not spoiled at all :)
The 4 pic is when Lutzie fell asleep in his toy box. My husband said he got out of the shower, and knew he had put Lutzie in his cage area. He kept looking for him, but said that when Lutzie's head was down he was flush with the toy box and just looked like a toy. When Lutzie finally woke up and lifted his head, my husband said he just had to get a pic to send to me.

We still keep the pee pee pad in his cage area, but he has not used it in weeks. He goes outside. I think it time we take it out. We definitely will not need to buy and more pee pee pads for the new puppy, as Lutzie has so many left over. He did so much better than I ever thought a puppy could with housebreaking! I don't know how you do it :)

I will be sending you something soon for March for the puppies. I am working on getting a care package put together for when we claim our new little one. I just had midterms last week, so everything has kind of been on hold. Just now trying to get caught up with everything not school related.

Take care :)
Ashley Mitchell"

"Last group of pics. I was doing school work the other night. I knew both the dogs were next to me on the couch, but I didn't realize how they were sleeping. Sarge had laid his head on Lutzie. They were both snoring and loving their nap buddy. I thought they were just so cute!

You can kind of see Sarge's messed up ear in the pic. The vet says it looks like someone glued it together where it looks bent. Must have happened when he was pretty young because it wound up growing together like that :( Don't know if you would have noticed or not, but wanted to explain incase you did. People can be so cruel. He is a really sweet dog.

I am done bothering you with pics for today :) Tell me if I am sending too many. Hope our new baby arrives soon :)

Ashley Mitchell"

"Miss C,
I ordered you some small breed Eukanuba food and more bully sticks. They should ship on Monday and deliver to you on Wednesday this week. Just a heads up, so you can be looking out for it.

Ashley Mitchell"

I sent my puppy care package today:) Looks like it will be delivered on Wednesday. I was trying to get it sent out last week, but had to wait on everything I ordered to arrive. I would've just sent it straight to you, but didn't want you to have to receive several little packages. Most of it arrived on different days and in different packages. I included the link for you to track if needed. I just a sent a bed, some toys, and a few teething treats for our whoever our new little guy turns out to be:)

Lutzie is still doing wonderfully. I think he wants us to claim Kiki's baby. The quicker he can have a friend closer to his age to play with, the happier he will be:) He was not thrilled today, as it rained most of the day and he had to play inside. He just loves playing in the backyard on pretty days. I have two dog cots outside in the backyard and he will take breaks and nap on them in the sun looking adorable:) His eyes are just the most gorgeous things in the sun!!!

Hope to claim a little guy soon and start anticipating the homecoming day:)
Ashley Mitchell"

"Lutzie went to daycare today. When he got home, we gave him a bath and fed him. I also put a new handwarmer in his dog and changed the batteries out the beating heart in his dog. He got up once to go outside and pee, but has been napping in his crate ever since. Such a little sweetie pie!!!
Ashley Mitchell"

The Mitchells have now claimed their second sunshine beagle, Xerxes by Kiki!

"I thank you for all that you do to raise the best little puppies ever!!! My dog behavior specialist consistently says that Lutzie is the best puppy that comes to daycare:) She says he is so confident and well behaved. I will be going out there next Wednesday, during spring break to observe and help her during daycare. Maybe I will have some more first hand experience to share after then. I know everyone in our neighborhood thinks he is the cutest thing they have ever laid eyes on:) We think so too!

We appreciate all that you do!!!
Ashley Mitchell"

Athena's Orange Female with two spots on the top of her head is claimed by the Goss family from High Springs Florida.

her new family is coming up from fla. to meet with us at the charlotte airport park like area where we plan to meet with others coming in by airline from Birmingham , and driving from Virginia to meet us there as well ... busy day ahead friday for Athena's litter heading to various parts of the country ..
two of her boys are flying to new homes  too:) via United Petsafe .

thanks for your interest in this sweet girlie everyone ... she's been claimed now by a family in line for tri girls who asked to switch their preference and get this doll baby who had stolen their hearts for Valentines day and come to the mountains of Nc. to see some snow all in the same trip up  while they had time off .
we were happy to see them get the one they wanted and it all work out so well for their visit to North Carolina .

we met with the Goss family in Charlotte at the airport right before her brother's new mom flew in and met with us from AL.

they got to let her brother sit in the bed they brought for her so his scent was on it and she'd have something familiar in her new home.

"Hi there!  Just wanted to give you all an update on how things are going with Athena's beautiful daughter.  After a long weekend in the mountains, we finally named our little beauty-Abigail Caroline Molli Goss.  :)  The kids couldn't decide on just one name.  Anyway, she was a hit on the trails and we told everyone where we found our little sweetie.  Abbi went to Linville Falls, visited the caverns (inside my jacket most of the time), and relaxed by the roaring fire of the cabin.

Abbi has the sweetest personality and LOVES to cuddle.  She has trained very well and is getting close to being house broken.  She has the prettiest "sit" and does an adorable little head tilt when we talk to her."

"We are so happy with her and I will send you a few pictures to show you how much she is changing.  What a beauty!!!

Love,
The Goss Family
Jason , Kelli, Thomas and Ryan

p.s.  i have to tell you, we take so many pictures of her, it was really hard to narrow it down.

p.s.s.  today, our alarm went off in the house and ADT called and eventually sent police to our house.  turns out, our little houdini figured out how to climb out of her baby gated area in the master bathroom and escaped into the rest of the house.  No Accidents.  No destruction at all.  Just made us think that there was a burglar in the house.  The police said that they couldn't find  any intruders, just a baby beagle who had learned how to climb.  :)  smart little cookie.  :)"

Maisy's "Sparky" Orange Boy  has been adopted by the Vichot family from CA

They had originally chosen Madison's chocolate boy, but told us they really wanted a bigger beagle and asked to claim Whitman by Athena, thinking she was one of our larger dogs.  As homecoming time approached we let them know in our opinion Whitman was going to be smaller than his littermates, and suggested they consider Sparky. After seeing his pictures they agreed that he was just what they were wanting and he flew home to join their family in Downey CA!

They brought toys for Bethany and Tinsel !

Hi All,
We just wanted to let you know that Gabby is in her new home.  The drive home went very well.  Gabby was excellent.   She is settling in too.  Since the days are warm and sunny, she has been outside playing. She is already doing her peepee and poopie outside all day long.   She does well at giving us signals that she has to go out.  We set her up in a small alcove next to the kitchen, but I don't think she liked it.  Today we found her asleeep in her crate.  She went in all by herself!  I am just so amazed that she is so calm, but also so lovable and playful.  She just loves to give lots of kisses.
Thank you all again for doing an amazing job of nurturing these little babies!.  We just love her!

Elaine and Dave

Hey!
We just wanted to send a quick update on Wrigley Morehouse (from Daisy's last litter). Today Wrigley turned 6 months old! He is such a fun puppy and VERY smart. Tonight he graduated from his puppy beginner class at Petsmart. He completed his "test" like a champ! He is awesome at sit, stay, lay down, take it, leave it, drop it, come when called, cradle and massage, and even impressed his class with his "special tricks": shake and high-five! The only thing he struggles with is loose-leash walking because all he wants to do it play with the other puppies as he walks past them. We are working on this one though. Wrigley was by far the smallest puppy in his class even though he was the oldest. His buddy "Tucker" is a great dane, and his other friends "Lou" and "Abby" are both boxer girlies. They had a lot of fun together and everyone in his class is moving on to the intermediate class together in a couple weeks.

Thanks for giving us such an amazing puppy! He is a great addition to our family (definately like our little baby since we don't have any kids yet).

I have also attached Wrigley's graduation picture from tonight. He is such a cutie!!! We love him SO much!!!

~Leah Morehouse (and Jonny and Wrigley too!)
