Update on Sunny’s pair of sister’s returning customer’s the Dunnuck family adopted

from our very last litter

Hello!!!

They are doing great.

They are still inseparable lounge hounds!!!

Here are some more recent pics:

we loved seeing how much like Sunny their Peaches turned out 🙂

we love updates and photos so we can see how our pups have turned out …

We hope everyone in affected areas of the US. will be prepared for this massive Winter Storm.

Round #2

we have been getting ready and wanted to let folks know we have a generator if our power goes out. Being the very last home on the Duke Power line if anyone ahead of us has a fallen tree knock their lines out we go out too, so we purchased ours years ago to care for our doggies, so we can all stay warm at sunshine acres. In years past when we had outages folks would worry about the babies so we wanted to let folks know we will be ok.

( for areas with snow or ice on the ground for days we saw this good idea on Next door…

you can prepare by placing a tarp on your grass that can be pulled back to expose it after snow or ice covers the rest of the yard..

dogs don’t want to go on ice so this gives them a designated area to use till it all melts… we also plan to put a towel on our front steps so it can be removed once frozen.

once pulled back the dogs have an area to go hurry up…

Rescued Beagle we helped find a home in 2025.

( photo of her at the Shelter )

We got an email from a former customer who told us they had seen that we were no longer Breeding Beagle puppies,

but wanted to inquire about Adults to add to their pack and sent us pictures of their spoiled housepets

they asked if we had any contacts that might help them add another beagle to their pack. As it happens Miss C. had just shared all her puppy supplies with a neighbor who raises Coon Hounds after she could hear a litter of pups yipping thru the woods and figured he could use the shots, and food bowls ,beds, heating pads etc we no longer needed for his litter. He also happens to work for animal control, so she reached out and found out there was a young adult tri colored female they had just taken from an abandoned apt. He sent her picture to share and we had him bring her home, and over to our house to work with her to learn about her behavior and temp for their pack.

she was a little shy, but was current on everything Vet wise, so we took her in and cleaned her up

Cody gives her a good bath and clips nails, cleans her ears and teeth so she is good to hang out with our boys and we can assess how house broken she is, and if she is treat , or toy protective, or not. Also we can see what comands she may know before sending her home to a new family.

then she gets a collar on and meets our sweet boy Happy

we start out offering her various treats to see if she will come, and how careful she is about taking them from your hand etc.

we ordered treats to try out various kinds to see what she liked to send home with her

she enjoys the freedom from confinement 1st in an apt. and then at the Pound, so we give her space to play and hide rawhides in the yard if she wants

then she comes in and hangs out with us

she had just been spayed recently so we are gentle with her so she trusts us

she starts out a little unsure about the new surroundings but she soon realizes we are here to help

we gave some toys to her and she snuggled right up with them , so we sent those home with her to give her comfort in her new home.

before long she is confident enough to sprawl out and relax on the couch with her favorite toy

as it turned out the family who requested our help finding a beagle was just about to go on a planned vacation, so we offered to board her here since she would have been snapped right up, or have to sit in the pound. This was our opportunity to work with her for them ,

and it all worked out just perfectly for her to join their pack !

we knew Nef would give her lots of gentle reassurances as she stayed with us and prepared to find a new forever home.

pat pat… your ok now girl , your safe and you’ll learn you can trust us

free belly rubs… oh you like that , good…

Miss C. sits with her as we watch a movie… all the way thru. something her kids say she never did till retirement !

there was always too much to look after when you have newborns to tend to, or pups to care for all those 30+ years

curious …she watches as Miss C cooks …then she comes quietly to investigate that good scent …

umm she likes it !

we saw she was very polite around the kitchen and didn’t get into the trash, or anything, so we could see she would be a good indoor pet

didnt jump up on oven to get to that scent like an untrained hound might

we had several meals with her in the house with us and she was very well mannered around food.

she doesnt beg or jump up to get to the salmon, thats nice.

we felt good we were able to help her find a new home that we know is stable and loving.

We love the Beagle Breed and enjoyed helping her.

at one point Robert joked and said how do you know she’s not a sunshine beagle? Miss C. said for one thing her owners would know we would help find her a home, and she has dew claws and lots of freckles LOL !!

the family decided they were so excited to add her Robert came back a bit early to adopt her and take her home.

we sent along goodies and toys for her that smelled like her time here with us . She was given a capstar and wormed , and we gave her health records of her shots, and spaying the Animal Control had done so their vet had her info. to add her to their visits.

off she goes to Rock Hill SC

they took her to their vet and she checked out.

they have already sent us updates on her and named her “Belle”

she has fit right in…

they sent us video of her playing with their boys and having lots of fun…

we know she is really enjoying zooming around their fenced yard with the others

we were so happy to help Them find her ! And serve as her temp foster home till they could adopt

After retiring our Last female Therapy doggie moma mom ” Sunny” , to her own matched family forever home.

Miss C. was interested in a local edible Mushroom Farm just up the road from us.

(Dried Mushrooms ) break apart into peices and add to soup to reconstitute easily )

Cody and Miss Christina made an appt with the couple who live on 40 acres and went to see their Farm.

They let us purchase some already inoculated logs, and even offered to bring them to our property since we don’t have a truck and live so close.

We got to show them our place, they loved the beagles, we even exchanged some plants we each had multiplying in our yards the other didnt have

( Miss C. loves plant sharing folks who bring us something they have alot of to grow here !)

we put most of the logs in our woods around the Log Cabin , but decided to place one that has started to pop out of the drilled plugs in its log on our back deck, in an old recycled sink filled with recycled card board , wood chips and used coffee grounds for fertilizer.

the white round wax caps are pushed out of the way and Shiitake Mushrooms started colonizing the Logs, and they will for several years to come !

one days harvest recently as the logs start getting activated this Fall after 2yrs dormancy since they were inoculated by Sharonview Farm .

Miss C. has really been enjoying having fresh home grown Shiitake Mushrooms to add to soups and replace some costly meat from her diet

since they have a thick meaty texture and contain lots of benefits as well as a source of animal fat free Protein !

Miss C made some Vegan Chili with chuncks of Mushrooms for Protein and shared it with our vegan neighbor , and Cody’s now vegan wife

everone enjoyed it !

( sure is a big help with the cost of groceries these days ) Miss C. keeps all the leftover corn, beans etc. instead of tossing out the last uneaten bit in a cooking pot, she adds it to a big tupperware in the freezer then melts it when there is lots of leftovers to use as her base for “Garbage Soup” as her dad named it after she learned to cook in Home Economics classes in high school. Lol . it has everything you might have thrown out ha ha..

but with a few onions and potatoes added, and now our own home grown mushrooms its a hardy meal on a cold winter day that

we love to enjoy for Free ! )

in preparation for the coming Winter Storm we cooked up Quiches to have on hand…these have spinach, our mushrooms, and green onions

some of the logs in our woods are really getting going !

Granted its not as much fun as playing with Beagle Puppies , but its fun to go collecting them and breath the fresh air!

if not picked right away they get pretty large and will dry naturally in the sunshine so they can be stored for use at a later date.

Happy New Year 2026 !!

we welcomed the Teagarden’s Chocolate pair of Sunshine Beagle Sister’s for the Holiday !

Sadie runs in the gate off leash… she loves visiting us when they travel and knows right where she’s heading lol..

Happy and Gracen watch for their friends to get here

Sadie greets the boys

Miss Christina hugs the gals

the Military couple had moved away for a few yrs and hadn’t met our boy Happy by Paisley, they loved his soft less shedding fur and sweet personality !

Sadie binge watching Love Island Australia with Miss C. LOL

the Teagardens set up some beds with their travel crates having open doors so they could come and go at will ,

its obvious they like going in to rest and nap from time to time

the sisters remember who helped raise and feed them as puppies here…. and pile on Cody for lots of kisses and hugs!

we have an acreage property and the backyard is fenced for the dogs to explore and nap in the warm sunshine on raised beds

they enjoyed playing together outdoors

when the Teagarden’s arrive to pick up the gals Darcey gives a howl she is so happy to see them LOL !!

( they load up the gals and again Sadie doesn’t need a leash she minds so well …

pretty impressive for a beagle but not a sunshine beagle well trained like her 🙂

we enjoyed seeing the girls again as we ushered in the New Year with them

( they had told us how much Darcey loves chew items and spotted one she found in the front yard in her mouth as they left LOL ..!)

they brought Miss C a much appreciated Vegas T-shirt from their trip to their son’s wedding day.

Happy Holiday’s to one and All !!

“Poppy” by “Cliffie” and “Teddy”

( for fun : a photo of her here at sunshine beagles before Miss C’s son Cody and his wife flew her out to Seattle

to returning customers the Seidenstein family.

( and her 1st Christmas with her new family )

Poppy kisses for Charlie…

“Thor”

we heard from our favorite non- resident Stud Muffin tri colored “Thor’s” family .

After moving from NC to fla. they still honored our agreement to allow Their Boy “Thor” they adopted from us as a pup many years ago to sire a litter for us and brought him for the occasion !!

His pups were born and the family got to claim their boy’s son “Rudy” to join their pack in sunny Florida !

( for fun we are including a picture of the Carlson family years ago adopting their 1st sunshine beagle “Thor” )

“Thor” as a puppy here in NC. at sunshine acres ,

and later when he would come for Holiday Boarding with us

we were able to watch as he grew up with the Carlson family

we knew he was going to be a real looker and got to see him over the yrs as they traveled and boarded him with us ,

so we knew his personality and temperament would be perfect to make some adorable babies for us !!

we heard from the Elwood’s who adopted our boy “Tucker” by Sadie Mae ,when he was a puppy , and then adopted his gal pal “Sunny” when she retired from breeding ,along with Miss Christina .

“Tucker” and “Sunny” as pups here…

the pair loved to play and hang out in our living room as pups on a big donut bed so we gave it to her to make her feel at home in their home now

(we held onto him after both the litters had been adopted for their schedule to work, so the pair were best buddies here before he left.) We kept Sunny for breeding and he came back to breed one summer and the pair were reunited again, so when she was retiring we thought of them..)

for our gal “Sunny” and it has all worked out beautifully…

they thought of us this Holiday Season bringing Joy into their lives once again, with the addition of their 2nd Sunshine Beagle,

and sent their thanks with a Special Gift for giving them their families’ lovable companions …

it was perfect timing and arrived while daughter Christi was here with us trying to put on some weight …

Mom’s home cooking and some wonderful chocolates worked a treat… she went from 107 to 118 and we all feel better now , wheew!

our Thanks for remembering our little family this Holiday Season we so appreciate all our beagle loving Pack across the USA. !!

they told us the pair definitely remembered one another, and are just inseparable !

we hoped it would all work out for the pair and it has perfectly !!

we loved seeing her in the bed we sent home with her to make her feel comfy in a new home/family. Kevin told us she just loves chilling in front of their nice fireplace.

One of “Tucker’s” son’s “Sirius’s” family sent their Christmas good wishes too, so we passed the picture on to the Elwood’s so they could see one of his kids !

they said they can’t believe how much “Sirius” looks like his dad !! we said they say the same thing!

we are so very proud to have watched over the years as they raised their boys

one of Paisley’s chocolate girlies “Reese’s” family sent a new picture of her and told us she is nice and small like we hoped she would be for her empty nester’s getting their next sunshine beagle baby to raise in retirement.

her adopting family had asked us to hold onto to her as a pup till they were ready so we were very close to such a sweetie, and love it when they check in with us and let us know how she’s doing!

(here she was the Christmas they adopted her )

“Sunny’s” chocolate girl “Coco” under the tree….

Coco's first snow!! She is having a blast!!

sisters playing in the snow, years ago Dianne got a sunshine beagle then another, then her daughter and her hubby got Coco from us too !

woo hoo !!! this is fun !

we loved getting an update on how 2 of “Sunny’s” offspring from different yrs litters were doing ! They get to visit one another often and always enjoy playing together.

every so often Miss C’s daughter Christi forwards a picture she see’s on Instagram, this one of Karen and “Trixie”

shows how they match lol… ( also one of Sunny’s pups from a few yrs ago 🙂

( for fun we are including their 1st Christmas photo from sunny Fla.)

over the summer, “Sirius” arrived to stay with us while his family traveled to their son’s Marine Graduation in Paris Island !

Proud little bro was sooo thrilled to go see his big brother’s Platoon Graduate !

They had fun decorating their vehicle for the ride to Pick him up !

Hey Happy its always fun to see you !

nose kisses for our sweetheart “HAPPY”

He has been coming back to visit us since he was adopted and feels right at home .

we can leave his crate door open for him to go in when he wants.

our khaki boy Happy likes to go into the crate when he visits us , so the pair take turns

he watches intently as Miss C. has some rice, orange chicken and veggies …

he licks his lips LOL

polite enough not to come try and take some, just watching… like A GOOD BOY!

then he watches as Miss C. makes desert…. Cheese Cake Pudding and Strawberries ontop !

anything she does in our kitchen has an audience when Sirius is here with us !

even if he doesn’t get any of it LOL…..

sigh… ok I get the message

sorry buddy its not for you…

he gives up and relaxes

the boys got their rewards for being so good , a box arrived from Chewy FOR THEM full of treats to share !

OORAH !! SO Proud he Did It !!

Sirius watches for his people to return after Miss C. tells him he is gong home today , and puts a special Patriotic Collar on him to celebrate and surprise Sebastian !

So excited to see him again after being gone for his Training !

they came to pick up Sirius and brought Sebastian’s girlfriend Esmeralda along to meet us, and our doggies .

Sirius look who is here with us this time……

hey boy

oh you missed him so much !!

it was so sweet to see them reunited again…

Sammy loves his pal Happy and always gives him special attention when they come

and Gracen gets some love too

Sebastian says hello to Happy again, he’s known him since he was a little puppy here growing up

Samuel says ok Sirius time to take our New Marine home to Celebrate !!

they brought Miss C and Cody Marine T-shirts , we feel like family and will proudly wear his Battalion’s !

we love that we get to watch as our puppies grow up in Families, and really enjoy seeing the kids grow into such good young people over the years as we board their sunshine beagles here .

( FOR FUN we added this old photo of “Sirius” right before he was adopted from us here at his 1st home.

and one more oldie but Goodie: ( here the family is when they adopted “Sirius” from Darcey’s litter )

We hope everyone had a good Howeloween !

we miss the days when we had puppies here , like this cute lil “Punkin Eater” LOL…

“Sunny” went home with the Elwood’s daughter Grace and her boyfriend who drove down from Penn. to bring her home.

we love getting their updates and videos of the pair reunited and very happy to be together again.

she was our last breeding dog so NOW its official , Miss C. is done 🙂

we sent along the dog bed she loved , and a leash and collar we got her used to before the trip. here our dogs don’t use um we have acreage they enjoy running around on .

( below: Sunny and Tucker as pups here hanging out on the grey bed 🙂

they had brought a bed and blanket that had their boy Tucker’s scent on it and she sniffed it and seemed to recognize him !

Grace kept sunny company in the back seat , and they had a good trip .

this is just what we had hoped for her !!!

it sounds like everyone loves her and we know she is loving all the attention !!

we really enjoyed seeing her updates and how she is fitting in with the whole family

we got an update and boarding request from the owner’s of sister’s by Freddie Sadie and Darcey.

Hi Miss Christina!

It has been a while, but my husband and I are back in South Carolina (after several Army moves).

We are looking to have Darcey and Sadie (Gracen and Freddie’s girls) boarded while we attend my son’s wedding reception in Las Vegas

The girls have been doing great and are the biggest lovers.

(such a great shot of Darcey and Sadie with their Dad enjoying some fishing together .)

I see you have officially retired from breeding.  Hopefully you have been able to relax and travel some.

Please let me know if you have availability for boarding these two girls!

Thanks!

we loved seeing how well mannered the gals are!!

Miss Christina will be all done very soon.. Once our last mom “Sunny”heads home with her new family in Sept !

All our boarding doggies have gone home for now..

SO …Coops keeps Miss Christina company and binge watches Bachelor in Paradise with her lol…

we love spending time with our beagles over the years, and we think he feels right at home here with us when his family travels 🙂

they told us they enjoyed having some time at the shore before Classes start up again

Tri colored standard sized “Coops” came to stay while his family heads to the Beach

we talked about how long he has been coming to visit us…

He is a big tri color , from a bloodline we had at our previous house so he makes our dogs look little to us when he is around,

but he is just a gentle giant to our shorter legged khaki beagle boys .

they realized its been 11 yrs. wow.. and we have watched their son’s grow UP !

he and “Happy” enjoy playing around together

we love having him

he’s been sleeping on our colorful chair for almost a dozen years

bye bye Coops, see ya next time !

“Teddy” went home to Waxhaw with his family after their vacation in Holden Beach .

we enjoyed having this big boy come to visit while his people got to hit the water and enjoy the Carolina Coast.

he had fun playing with Sunny again

part of the time Sirius was here with us so the guys got to have fun together too

Teddy sired litters for us in the past and has been around our pups on previous visits with us. this time he got to play with our last puppy ever Joy.

finally the day arrives and his family arrives to take him home… he knows the sound of their truck coming up the driveway!

hey boy , we missed you !

come on Teddy..

“Sirius” went home with his family

his bed and food and treats are all packed to head home…he chills ontop of the couch.

Francis greets the boarders

We are so very proud to have watched over the years, as their older son grew into a Young Man ,

and this was their last family trip before he joins the Marines ! We truly wish him the Best Future, as his mom said she is so proud

he will be protecting our country!

they always bring us things, so this time Miss C. wanted them to have something so we gave them a hanging wall plaque

that has a Tri Colored Beagle and says “a spoiled beagle lives here” , so true Sirius is !!

Sirius is so well mannered and obedient he doesn’t need a leash to head to the car

Miss C. loves to share plants and gave Francis some of our purple wandering jew she had rooted for their yard

a typical Beagle … so wouldnt sit there waiting … most would be off in the Woods . We are proud of him too !

Our last puppy “Joy” went home with her new family !

the Ray’s had just lost their sunshine boy and asked to fill their empty nest with another of our little ones

they told us they plan to call her Presley now

their daughters are off to college now so Mom is home full time with her new baby girl.

we are so happy for Joy , she looks very content with her new family 🙂

Chocolate part time stud for sunshine acres “Teddy” arrived for his annual boarding visit with us so his family can travel.

Teddy’s girls say hello to tri colored “Sirius” who is also staying with us for the weekend this time while his family goes to Myrtle Beach

then the girls ask to see everyone’s favorite …. our khaki “Happy” !!

the girls have grown up visiting sunshine acres so they can remember him as a pup growing up here and love his gentle nature and super soft fur!

hey happy boy , your so sweet !

( here he was as a puppy greeting the kids when they dropped Teddy off with us in yrs past…)

Look at those HAPPY FACES .. awe that makes our day to share his sweetness…..

he takes time to look each of the girls in the face as they talk to him….

his fur is the softest, and temperament is the calm, gentle kind so he is always a hit with visitors

the other boys run around the yard while he gets some love and makes everyone Happy !! It’s his Job here lol

Cody says Hi to Teddy

Lol … here Happy have some of Teddys treats ..

Ok Girls time to Go…. awe Bye bye Happy 🙂

look at that face , too cute

like do we have to leave him ???

Sit…. awe such good boys!!

its always fun to get to see our pups all grown up and so very handsome !!

tri colored “Sirius” is back to board with us while his family head to Myrtle Beach for the weekend !

Happy hears their car approach and awaits his buddy Sirius’ arrival as he comes off leash to the gate on his own again ! such a good boy!

come on in boy the doors open for ya!

Frances and Popi say hi to Joy

Joy is having fun playing with him again

she joins Happy in Sirius’s open crate lol…

he loves to watch as Miss C. cooks

we got to visit a nearby edible Mushroom Farm and try some of their dried Shiitakes, and they let us purchase some inoculated logs to put on our shady wooded trails to our creek. They will come out this Fall and be a nice activity for Miss C. to walk thru our Woods and harvest,

now that all the pups have gone.

Hi Miss Christine - I hope all of you are doing well. I can't believe the pups are 5 months!! We were at the OBX for July 4th - Coco had a great time at the beach!
It's great to hear about Sunny!! I'm glad she will be in the perfect home!! I'm thankful you kept her, and she had one more litter.  I love Coco - she is such a hoot!! I can't imagine my life without her!! 🐾♥️🐾

“Darcey’s tri colored boy named “Sirius” arrived to stay with us while his family travels to NJ.

they trust him off leash to come in and see the girls …

they bring in his backpack with his things for his visit and give him lots of hugs .

Francis says hello to Sunny and Joy

come on out … you remember this place you started out here…

they loved meeting Sunny and were surprised she hasn’t found a home yet.

they really enjoyed spending time with Sunny so much.

they said Sunny could be a good service dog or Pet Therapy dog like several of her ancestors in our bloodline have become after retiring from us.

We told them one of her litters happen to have had all her puppies go to be personal companion pets, pet therapy trainees etc. and one went to a paraplegic to be his tiny Lap dog companion.

“Boop”

Sunny’s last pup “Joy” meets a new dog she doesn’t know for the first time.

we love having him come stay

they enjoyed meeting “Joy” too

he has been having a good time hanging out with the gang !

Joy follows her new buddy around …

we love it when our puppies we raised for folks get to come home to us to visit while their family vacations .

what a sweetie

wheew time for a nice nap in his own crate .

they told us the gals are doing good together and Coco was sleeping on their heating pad and Kiki Joined her !!

how precious

“Emmy Lou” is doing good with her new friends , aren’t they all adorable.

Mocha and Peaches are doing great together we loved seeing how they are fitting right into their new family!

Chewie is doing so well! He really seems to be content and has settled in like a champ.

After the first week of giving him some distance, Kylo has started playing with him which is wonderful to see (for both of them).

Here are some photos and videos of him so far!

Peg in California sent us this update on how her 2 sunshine boys are doing !

Dear Miss Christina,

We love banjo already! And he and Jordy (other Sunshine beagle star) are getting along just fine. We gated off the kitchen and dining room as those floors are tile (not carpet). Banjo has been going outside and running like a nut on the grass (we fenced off a ‘smaller’ back yard so we can keep an eye on him) then he comes inside and curls up to sleep in his crate (door open)!

The flight back to SF was easy. Banjo slept or cuddled on my lap the entire time! I just threw the blanket that you packed over him and the flight attendants paid me no mind.

We are thrilled to have another Sunshine Beagle! Thank you for your care. He’s a peach.

You take care!

Peg, Jordy, Banjo and the rest of the family.

Banjo and Jordy hanging out and sun bathing together!

All is well with Banjo. He has learned to pee on the grass. I was on a Zoom call this morning when Banjo got up, walked out the sliding door to his grassy area (all fenced and safe) and peed on the grass! I had to mute myself to give him a treat and praise him – lol!

Peg

All our puppies have found their forever homes now!

The Dunnucks decided to come pick up “Mocha” on their way to Easter with their Aunt in NC. They had considered our last puppy from the start and asked to see her too that eve . they told us the kids had already picked out a name for her ! “Peaches”… We had held off placing her till they came and it all worked out perfectly to take her along for their Easter Vaca !

“Emmy Lou” flew home to her new owner Lisa, having her nephew fly in to transport her onboard the plane for her back to Nebraska!

Peg flew in from California to pick up her 3rd sunshine beagle from us !

The Kirby family came from Chapel Hill to take home their 3rd sunshine beagle to join their pack!

“Coco” went home with Carrie and Peter and Sunny’s orange girl “Kiki” from a previous litter they adopted from us.

this is your real little sister !

We have been busy around sunshine acres, setting up for homecomings!

the Fed Ex Truck has been making frequent visits with things we are needing for the pups!

Sunny knows the sound of that truck a mile away lol….

Yep I bet its all for ME… and the babies !!

Yea look , it has the Magic word on the side !!!!

she checks out our order … I like all but the new wormer she thinks…

the next day we need more wee wee pads, pet wipes, and snacks for her lucky for us chewy is just a click away and a day later it arrives!

ok , we need alot of pads here with 7 pups going on um lets stock up and hope they last !!

the Kirby’s sent their puppy care package and a bag of Eukanuba small breed puppy food so we soaked some in formula and began feeding him with dry food gradually so his tummy can adjust off mom’s milk, canned food, and now dry food .

Sunny said goodbye to her pups and got her scent on their things like Mocha’s bed the Dunnuck’s had sent ahead for this.

Our last available Beagle at Sunshine Acres is “Sunny” please consider adding her to join your home .

click the link to her page below to learn more about this young adult girl who is house trained and very trustworthy .

she is up to date on everything and ready to find her own pet home now.

Ask for Sunny in your subject line to give this sweetie a good home.
