Sunshine Acres Beagles
Available
Occasionaly we have available adult beagles looking for good pet homes! After a few litters we like to find good pet homes for our adult dogs so they can be the center of someone's world. We would love to see our retiring adults in a great pet home for some one-on-one attention and companionship. We also sometimes have beagles that we have rescued that are looking for recoop with someone special.. as well as beagle pets we are placing for a customer who could not keep a dog (moving ect.) and needs to find a nice new home for their pet to move into! |
![]() Past Retiring Sunshine Acres Beagle. Sometimes folks ask us if we think a beagle who wasn't raised with cats would be able to get along with their family cat. Our sweetheart went to a family with 5 of them and they're all equally spoiled! |

If you or you and your family have a good home life to offer a retired dog please email us and say that in the subject line so we go right to your email !
One thing that families like about older puppies and adults is
that they have gotten past the teething and biting stages that
must be dealt with in puppyhood. "older dogs have had more fun ", someone told me, "and smile more ..." see for yourself a wagging tail smiles and smiles at you, when you get home from work... a dog who already loves to get under the covers with you is priceless !
please dont just write to ask if we still have a dog..... please don't make us ask for the homelife details- send those with your inquiry please ! Emails that don't include any home details for us to identify with are often skipped over in favor of emails that have shown us they are serious about finding a match. we look to see if folks are responsible to follow our directions when considering quality homes for an adult dog to fit in to, so we know they will be taken care of and in a good situation for the rest of their life with you.. thanks ! If you feel you may have a good home to offer an adult dog, please tell us about your home, we like to see adults go to homes with a fenced yard, as they were not trained since puppy hood to live only in your house the way adopting your very own young puppy would of course be trained by you in your home, and learning your routines from day one. Any new dog should be taken out often in order to learn your routine, what door to go to, and where you want them to go. We have acreage wooded property and accessible by doggy door, so we prefer homes with fenced yards over other options for our spoiled beagles to enjoy. Please let us know Where a dog will be sleeping there, and if you have fencing or will be walking them on a leash etc. thanks !! |

We've decided to retire several dogs so that the kids can keep some favorites we've fallen for from our current litters that we feel will enhance our bloodline. We just want to see good pet matches for each of these adoptable adults.
Shelly Khaki Mini Female is spoken for by Nancy !!
Hello Sunshine Acres,
I have been looking at your website, page by page for a couple
of weeks now, I happened upon your adult dogs today and would be
interested in learning more.
I would prefer a mini or a nano-mini adult. I have hip and
lower back issues and need to be able to carry my new baby if
needed. Color doesn't really concern me and neither does
gender.
I am single, 60 year old nurse working in a business office
enviornment. I have 10 grandchildren that I am around
frequently and consider my pet part of the family who would
spend time with not just me and Stella (my 9 year old cat). but
the family, as well, on the weekends and vacations. Stella runs
the house as she pleases, is very laid back, she likes to
snuggle for short times then is off to do her own thing. She
sleeps in bed with me (when she is so inclined) and Iwould plan
that our new addition would do the same. Two short walks is
what I could do right now, but play time in the house for
exercise is mandatory when mom gets home from work. It's a
great stress reliever for all ! There is a hotel in Ocean City,
MD that I frequent year round and they do accept small pets and
would want my little one to be able to go with me and frequent
the beach for some playing with the waves on the shore or just
hanging out reading on a cool fall day on the beach. I had a
puggle in the past but the beagle part of him could not resist
doing whatever it took to get off the leash and chase whatever
little animals he saw. Otherwise, he was the perfect buddy, so
I was able to rehome him with a good friend and I see him
regularly.
I have a small yard (thus I would prefer a laid back friend, who
is happy to go out do his buiness and come back in to be with
Stella and me. I also have a covered porch and would consider
potty training to a "potty patch"
I am retiring in 2 years and would look forward to growing old
with a new member of my family. I have no time frame and would
probably drive down if we were able to work something out.
If you would consider me, I would be honored to adopt a retired
dog. We would be in the same stage of life and could enjoy our
golden years takiing long rides, cuddlying, visiting the ocean
and spending time with family.
Your time is much appreciated !
Nancy L.
She is very sweet and loves loving! She is a khaki mini female and is already fixed and is $390 we have promissed darling Shelly to a lady who already plans to spoil her and enjoy having her join her home for lots of cuddling and nice walks on the beach !!
Wow, Miss C you are a wonder. So glad Shelly and baby are doing well !
Thanks for the update ! I was thinking that perhaps I could get Shelly
a toy or blanket to keep around my house for awhile before she moves in
and send it to her a few weeks before her move so she at least has an
idea of who we are. What do you think?
I was also wondering about her height, weight
and eye color. You know a girl has to have properly fitted and
coordinated accesories :) Can we all spell P-A-M-P-E-R !
Peace and Blessings,
Nancy
Shelly flew home to Nancy!
" I was finally able to meet Shelly at about
1 am.
She was, of course, a bit timid and not sure of herself at
all. When we got home and I was able to hold her and walk
her for a bit, her tail started wagging and all has been
well since. She is sleeping in my room in her crate for
security. After Stella introduced herself and walked away
uncareingly Shelly and I snuggled up on the couch to wind
down. I massaged her shoulders, we watched TV and soon she
was snoring !!
Thank you so very much for my darlin' little girl, I know we
are going to be the best of friends.
Peace and Blessings,
Nancy"
Marley has been adopted!
after a few small litters we have decided to let her find a great pet home now !
Mia on the side above is from her last litter.. and has just been adopted and is flying home to her new family in Texas soon ! So now we've decided to let Marley find her forever family too , ask for her in your subject line if you have a place for this sweet girl.
she has an adorable sleve up her leg... with one white paw ! she also has a neat marking on her back ..
she's a nice smaller sized tri color female beagle as you can compare her height to the couch in the above picture ..
After adjusting to her new home and family, Marley is fitting in as the friendly calm dog they had hoped to find! Hi Miss C! We are writing to tell you we LOVE this dog, and could not have asked for a friendlier, more laid back dog!
she found a perfect fit , her new family has a jack russell terrier , the two are getting along well they tell us , and that mini Tootsie is actually smaller than the jack russell !! Thanks to all of those folks who have written to ask about adoption of tootsie... keep watching for other retiring and rescued beagles as we look for good homes for them as well !
We loved hearing back that all was going great... we thought our sweet
little tootsie would be a wonderful fit for the family and their jack
russell who did not like their previous Hunting bred beagle male with a
dominant personality ... the kids like most all... asked to see puppies
... and of course we know often a family will come for an adult and go
home with a baby.. thats ok of course, but when we retire a great doggie
like tootsie and know she would fit the preferences so perfectly we love
it when we can help make that match happen and everyone is happy in the
end like this !! |

"Bailey" , a small tricolor Female was adopted!
Bailey is a happy go lucky girl who is sweet and curious and would make a good buddy !
adopted now :)
her favorite thing was coming in with the family,
she would run loose in the yard here on our acreage property , WITHOUT RUNNING into the woods .
Here she is with MINI SIZED KHAKI MINI MOM KIKI IN FRONT, SUNNY A MEDIUM SIZED STANDARD ORANGE AND WHITE GAL , AND available adult , " Abbey " a STANDARD SIZED TRI COLOR FEMALE .
she was housebroken and loved being indoors hanging out , she was also crate trained too !! she was one of the beagles we raise here who was allowed to be loose in our driveway and front yard area to show that our dogs arent driven to hunt like most beagle lines in the South are, Her dad and his bloodline started our beagle lines from the Seattle Washington area we began with. She has nice longer legs so she will keep up with your walks if someone wants to go out for exercise ... I heard the other day single people like adult trained pets they can adopt since they can go walk and meet other folks outdoors right away ! It gives them an excuse for venturing outside and they become more fit and find a friend or two this way so its a win win situation the dog likes it too ! she was adopted recently ! Hi Christina,
Abbey and I were both tired by the time we got home so in most of the first pictures she is lying down, but I got some more active ones today. It is hard to get three dogs to be still at the same time.
Out side of getting slightly lost two times leaving your house (I should have done a reverse instructions) we had a quiet trip home. As soon as Abbey found the dog door, she was out and checking out the back yard. She is getting along with her new dog family and they seem to approve of her. Everyone is eating together with out problems and Abbey has learned which bowl is hers. I think she is going to be a perfect fit with us.
I have eight pictures I thought you would like. I’m send four with this e-mail and will send the rest in another. They seem to do better that way.
I enjoyed getting to know you. If you are ever passing through this way, let me know and stop in to see how Abbey is doing. She is missing her original family.
Take care,
Lynda
( we hope folks realize we sometimes wake up to crank up the computer and cant get online ... there are days when its rough here in the country getting service, so when we can, there can be lots and lots of emails to go thru.... which ones would you open first ?? the ones with a subject line that catches your eye since its something youd love to see happen !! so please put a name of a dog, or puppy, or "ready to adopt ...... ", etc. emails we get with no subject can sometimes be skipped over I fear they may be spam or junk mail i dont want to open so I dont ! there are tons of other folks who have written us asking to become preapproved and sending the details upfront we look for to do it ! those diligent folks who did their homework and now ask to be prospective parents of one of our babies will hear back that day! )
"Daisy" found a great home !!
she hangs out on our deck, and out loose in the front yard at times...or is invisible fence trained so she could easily be taught a new boundary in someones yard to stay in..
she loves toys more than any of our doggies !! very
playful and sweet she would be a great family pet . her main goal is to be inside the home with the gang ... she can be let loose in our big yard without wandering off to the wooded acreage all around us .
Daisy has gone home with the Grant family! They were looking for a new friend for the fam and for "Charlie" their tricolor Sunshine Acres Beagle son of "Bonnie"!
she loved laying out in the moveable pen with her babies as they weaned off her milk
Punkin was already Invisible fence trained for someone with that system
. she was also one of our most playful moms but not quite as busy finding toys and treats as Daisy doggie above. !!
she also loved rawhides like daisy does.... they could entertain themselves on end with a rawhide or chew toy... much more than say Grace... who never chews them... ? ( true of some khaki's ) Grace does adore Greenies though... and freeze dried chicken and meat snacks that are good for you...LOL .. well all she cares about is the "Chicken" ... in them... dogs can be as different as people are , some are playful and higher energy level , others are able to run out and go hurry up and come right back inside .. the more we know about the home you have for a beagle the better we can work on finding a great companion to enjoy who can fit in well.
she went to a family who wanted an adult dog but didnt want to go to the pound where you just dont know what your getting.. she fit right in and they took her home to enjoy !
