Over 20+ years of experience has gone into developing our exclusive house pet variety beagle bloodline. We continue to develop our beagles' luxurious coats & stunning colors, and overall family-oriented wonderful companion pet traits in our pure bred beagle bloodline.

Since our pets are not allowed to go into any breeding programs & are purely for those looking to raise up a companion beagle with exceptional traits to be just right for an indoor pet, only we have this unique and exquisite companion pet bred & raised bloodline. We are not breeding for hunting abilities & mindset, and rather than simply focusing on show worthy looks, we aim to improve our beloved beagles in all areas for the pet-home. Our beagles are a result of our over 20+ years experience selectively breeding for wonderful homebody & indoor housepet qualities, handpicking puppies that time after time we (Miss Christina, & kids: Christi & Cody) were impressed with, and just had to keep for ourselves to enjoy & reproduce for others to love!

We start them off right, hand raising our babies from birth, and bringing our infants into the comforted and loving family atmosphere from the start. We tend to their needs with all our time, guidance, & the best we can offer, just as we expect from the devoted pet homes they go into, once they're ready to bond & begin learning their forever pack order & household rules.  The nature of our homey, family raised puppies really makes a wonderful difference as they go into their responsible & approved pet homes. As an approved adoptee, you can learn from our years of experience, and then follow our Guidance as your take over raising your new family-oriented sunshine beagle baby, and shaping them into your very own unique Companion Pet!

Young Couples, Singles, Empty Nesters, and Families from across America have become addicted to watching our beagles and babies, and tune in daily for their dose of cuteness, meanwhile expanding their knowledge about these special companion beagles!  To begin the search for your very own beagle puppy, begin reviewing our sections for helpful info, & look at all our Current Pups shown on the Current Litters page further below. Also see our Upcoming Litters page for near future possibilities.

Our Sunshine Process:
Creating good matches for our Puppies & Families!

We love each one of our babies, and finding the right homes to properly guide their development into wonderful pets is important to us.  Harmony is valuable for everyone.

By first learning about the families who come to us, and the unique homes that they are offering  for one of our babies, we can feel comfortable in moving forward and helping create balanced happy family matches for our beagles and customers.

With the keys to success provided throughout our exclusive Guidance pages, the new puppy parents responsibly raise their very own learning puppy. By first establishing them as a part of the human pack order, and forming good indoor pet habits from the very start, they are able to reach their happy potential as the perfect match for their unique pet homes!  You can directly raise your new attentive Baby Sunshine Acres Beagle into your harmonious & responsible family member, for years of enjoyment with the perfect companion pet for you!

Are you Smitten?

We see a variety of desires from our potential families since our bloodline has so many unique & beautiful characteristics to love. Because of this diversity, we can often consider new interests as an appropriate match for one of our Available Puppies.

If you're ready for a puppy and are smitten with an available baby you can ask us about approving your household as our baby's potential home, and if approved you may be able to claim him or her with your deposit to hold your baby off the market until you can either come out soon to meet with us and welcome home your new darling (Afternoons/evenings that week or a weekend trip for the fam!) or have your baby fly home via the PetSafe program.

If you don't see an Available puppy in the color(s), size(s), gender or whatever really steals your heart, many of our families ask to get themselves pre-approved for a puppy from us so that they can have the choice to claim a matching baby whenver everything works out just right. Our Puppies are offered to pre-approved matches first before we can consider new inquiries as a current match- so holding your spot in he line of decisions is always a good idea!

Learn all about our family & our beagles, and once you have decided you'd love to add one of our darlings to your household, you can then introduce yourself & household to us, and seek our help in finding & raising your very own companion pet, whether you're ready for a puppy as of now, will be soon, or are looking forward to sometime in your future.

Enjoy reviewing our  educational & delightful Beagle Website. When you feel your search is over & you've found our family to be the home you'd like to adopt your lifelong companion pet from, the sure way to hold your position in the line of inquiries from our new possible sunshine beagle families, is to join the waiting list for our help matching you up with the puppies you're looking to find, so you can be on your way towards raising your own Sunshine Acres Companion Pet.

Want to know More? Take advantage of years of experience and knowledge!

Our Website is here for the benefit of you
and our babies success for the years to come!

We've developed an in-depth website over the years, for families across America to reference & learn from, taking the right steps towards a successful addition to their family, while we fulltime care for our babies here at home and work to make appropriate matches happen with those who are ready for the commitment!

To be considered & approved for a Sunshine Acres Beagle puppy, we expect to see sincerity & commitment to successfully adding a puppy to your household. Demonstrate your patience and attention by first reading our informative website topics to learn about all of those important adoption details ahead of time, so we can successfully proceed in helping you find & raise the right beagle pet!

We are a small family- a single Mom & her 2 kids caring for our beagles.  We are not a pet store, so please be understanding that our beagles & pups are our priority, not sales. We take our time to know who we are talking to before feeling comfortable in moving forward, and we do not have a "customer service" phone line like some other websites, where their employees who answer the phone are not even at the kennel location, and do not personally know a thing about the puppies they sell . Instead we have taken the initiative as a family to compile all of our years experience, giving you an extensive website to take your time finding out all about us before telling us about you and moving forward!

We choose to devote our time to our beagles and family, meanwhile offering the joy we've found in our rare companion pets to those families who understand our mission, where we are coming from, and appreciate our time that is given to our beagles and the many responsibilities around here as we raise family oriented beagle puppies the right way! These preferred customers care to seek out all those important details they desire via this website that we have put together for that purpose, and exhibit their patience, attentiveness & perseverance- qualities needed to succesffuly adapt a new puppy into the household!

We keep this page & current puppies updated, because we realize we need to expect our most desirable customers to rely on this current & detailed information, rather than expect us to individually update each random emailer with those new pictures & what's going on, wasting precious energy repeating various info about our beagles. Please take advantage of our years of descriptions, before contacting us to avoid asking questions we've already answered in much more extensive detail and imagery, for ultimately better understanding.

Miss Chritstina's daughter Christi devotes hours upon hours to the puppies as well as website updates & pictures for everyone to see, and whenever computer time is appropriate, usually focuses on these updates for everyone to see before moving on to individual emails. We can more easily converse with those who have taken advantage of the time we've put into compiling this website for their benefit & appreciation.
We realize that our unique beagle pet website has grown quite extensive through constant updates, and that we were one of the very first breeders to have created a website showcasing what we have to offer in our family raised beagle pets, sharing them with approved households across America.

We understand that a first temptation upon finding our beautiful babies may be to skip the details, and simply write asking questions such as "what puppies do you currently have available?" or "I'm interested- Can you send more info?". However we hope that everyone understand that these unsupported inquiries only delay the process. If we receive emails that seem to have missed out on the efforts put into our website topics, we may skip those during our precious computer time & allow others who have already researched & are making that commitment towards raising a Sunshine Acres Beagle into their very own Companion Pet  to move forward first, and meanwhile the random inquirer can take that time to return to our website & begin learning more before making any decisions and proceeding with the adoption process!

Note: If you've submitted your details for pre-approval but we havent been able to respond, it may have been lost in the shuffle that week, please be understanding and patiently forward your email again so that we can see your sincereity and help you move forward!
If you discover further info, or learn more about the details we like to have in order to consider you for approval, you are welcome to resend your email & include any of those extra details to help us know more about where our babies are going!

This informative website has been created & written by Miss Christina and Chirsti, and 20+ years of observations, experiences, and overall understanding have gone into creating this site. Expansive informational topics & adorable pictures have been piling up, and it is all here at your fingertips, here for you to pursue & access freely through www.sunshinebeaglepups.com/sunshineacresbeagles.htm  !

We hope everyone understands these are bred to be pampered pets & indoor family members only.

Our Beagle pets, exclusive Bloodline:
Since 1990 we have developed & raised our Sunshine Acres Beagles for house pet friendly qualities. Ours are not the typical beagles designed for hunting abilities you find in the local papers. We have spent  years selectively choosing & keeping our breeding lines for homebodies that make excellent Loving Lap dogs, and have placed them only into pet homes.

These puppies are intended for Pet Homes Only, not for breeding, hunting, showing or resale. We provide a copy of the parent's/ancestor's AKC papers to show that our pet-puppies are of pure blood AKC Beagle origins. Litters are not individually registered to prevent Breeding of our Sunshine Acres Beagles, which is prohibited.
We reserve the right to place our pups only into homes we are comfortable with, and refuse to sell our babies to anyone planning to Hunt or breed our uniquely developed bloodline.
(DNA on file with the AKC)

If you currently have a beagle, we will ask for their spay/neuter receipt prior to selling any of our puppies to safeguard our many years of work developing our exclusive bloodlines of Pet only pups.
If you intend to adopt Two, we will only sell littermates, or pups of the same gender.
If they are going to be unrelated, they must be the same gender to avoid accidental breeding of the unique  house pet variety line Miss Christina has developed.

In other words  this is the only place to get
a Sunshine Beagle Puppy by Miss C. !

Adoptive families continue to check in for pupdates and begin discussing plans for puppy homecoming!
younger puppies weaning
We watch over our newborns constantly, sleepless nights and early coffee mornings in our whelping room, caring for these new faces & mothers! Once we're able post their pictures, pre-approved families can keep an eye on favorites and let us know their options, as we announce turns & piece the puzzle together, making sure the right matches happen!

*Remember that your new puppy will start out in a confined area as they slowly learn about your home through your lead. Their safe-base can be the bathtub while still small, kitchen or laundry room floor with a childgate, or we especially recommend the easy to set up Pet Playpen from Petsmart, as seen on our suggested items page, with paper on one side and bedding on the other for whenever you are not right there supervising as they learn about and adapt to their new household there with you. Boundaries are good for puppies, so that as an intelligent pupil they can respect your leadership, learn, and gradually earn their household privileges. Through this process they will be able to be trusted and enjoy more freedoms when they grow up responsibly in your home!

  • We are a small family, not a petstore. We devote the majority of our day to raising our puppies and dogs here at home as a family.
We want to create lasting relationships with approved adoptive forever homes. When contacting Miss Christina and daughter Christi, please tell us about your home and family as well as your favorite puppies and how they would fit in growing up there with you.
We care about where our babies go, and want sincere adoptive homes to learn about our family while we work caring for our babies here at home, and then tell us about their family before asking to adopt a baby from us.  We feel that makes a better long term relationship between our family and our baby's forever home.

If you are indeed committed to successfully making a lifelong addition to your forever home,
we would be happy to work with you towards making that happen soon!

If you would like to get started with adopting a currently available puppy to introduce to your homelife let us know so we can help you get started. All it takes is pack-commitment to your puppy and an understanding of your puppy's learning process.

We are also expecting litters by our upcoming mommies for the summer homecoming timeframe!

Please keep in mind that sometimes things happen, emails go to spam, newborns are born etc, and if we miss your email, please don't take it personally. We get many emails a day, from both new interests, already pre-approved homes, and happy families sending pictures and updates. We also spend the majority of our day with the puppies, especially when newborns have arrived, and we try to get back to everyone as soon as we can as we see their email and details. But if a few days go by, emails can get pushed back to the next page.  If you didn't receive a reply that week or so, please kindly resend/fwd your email with all your details so that we can learn about your home.
Patience and understanding are key characteristics we like to see in potential puppy parents!

(Keep scrolling down, after you have read  the info below, there are more pictures of the available puppies growing up here at home!)

Why is there a pre-approved waiting list for future timeframes and preferences ? Everyone's preferences are unique, from color, size, or gender, to becoming ready after future timeframe(s). Therefore our pre-approved waiting list helps us focus on everyone's goals for the future, as we learn more about each family beforehand, and help them find their matches during a time that works for them! We ask that if joining the waitinglist, folks  agree they are willing to be patient until mother nature provides and they can claim a puppy during a timeframe that works. If it's not a good time, folks can always pass and continue waiting until everything works out.

How do puppies become available?
Since everyone has different preferences and situations going on in their lives, the waiting list during certain timeframes, or for colors, sizes, and genders becomes satisfied. Then new folks can consider those puppies as matches if they are ready and seek adoption approval, otherwise, they may choose to join our waiting list, and at their individual turn(s) during a timeframe that works for them, we offer our pre-approved waiting list families the opportunity to claim or pass on matching puppies until they decide to adopt just the one that steals their heart! Joining the waiting list is done through a nonrefundable $100 deposit, that represents an agreement/commitment on both parties' parts to work together.

How do you find forever homes?
We are committed to our puppies' care first and foremost, devoting our lives to properly raising our babies for pet-homes. Therefore it is important to us to match them up with the right families to continue learning from and forever homes to thrive in. Our website has proven crucial to finding sincere families who have taken their time to read everything and get to know our family, and by the same token, we want to learn all we can about the homes that come to us!

Ash and ComputerYour Emails to Miss C & Christi help us approve good forever homes for our babies!
Miss Christina & daughter Christi take time out of our responsibilities to individually review emails from potential homes together, so that we can first learn about adoptees, and if comfortable with developing a relationship, compose an email during a good time to approve patient and sincere households who appreciate all that we're doing here and likewise provide their details for us to see. We want to know that the families who comes to us seeking adoption are indeed committed to the decision, and that they have taken their time to review all the helpful information we have already provided here online from our years of experience, so that everyone involved has a successful experience with the process of adding a new addition to the family. Send us emails so that we can see your details & sincere interest in moving forward with adopting a baby from our family for your family!

Since our website is viewable by the general public, emails work best for us- this not only protects our family from unknown callers/visitors, can you imagine getting phone calls day and night from thousands of viewers across the world... it allows us to take a moment of peace between responsibilities here at home to sit down and review/compose e-mails when the time is right. This is the only way we can truly devote our attention to our babies first and foremost, without interruption, and then to interests without feeling rushed, being able to get up if needed and return to finish an email.

Having all the details easily accessible together in an email for reference also really helps as we consider what's best for everyone. Once we've gotten a chance to see and discuss good potential homes with each other, we can feel comfortable with letting expectant pet-homes move forward in adopting of one of our babies, and take time when available to compose a letter back approving their home to join our extended sunshine family!

When we have spare time and are able to sit down at the computer for a coffee break, we do of course like to first update our website if possible, so that everyone can get an update at the same time, then move on to individual conversations. We often work offline to organize memory stick pictures into folders, thumbnail new pictures and make updates, then get online to publish web updates for all our puppy fans across the nation to watch and follow along in the process! We devote our days to hand-raising each of our puppies & caring for everyone, share all the cuteness via our website, and then work together to see they are matched up with the right forever homes!

Note from Christi: Hey everyone! Once it becomes your turn to make a choice about our Current Puppies, I will email you so that you can claim your matching sunshine acres beagle babies! I'll let you know what puppies are available to you, and your name will also be listed in this section to indicate its your turn for a particular type of puppy.

If your name is listed below,
It's
Your turn!
to make a decision about claiming a match, or passing & waiting until everything works out better for you!
  •
  • Chris Carlson is up for a tricolor runtsize boy! Jinglebell's Tri runt boy Barry for memorial weekend homecoming, or Halo's tri runt boy for end of June!
  • We have been getting many requests for Jinglebell's Khaki Mini girls, and do have folks in line for khaki mini female babies who joined last year for this timeframe,  we are holding off on making official turns for them until we see what our eminently expectant small khaki mom Seashell has, for those who have been patiently waiting in line for that preference.

Let us know what you'd like to do. You can either:

  1. Claim a matching puppy for your preferences and timeframe!     -OR-

  2. Let us know if you choose to pass & continue waiting on a future match, or if your preferences have changed! Please let us know if you decide not to claim at this time, so that we can know to let the next person in line make their decision.

If you're ready, ask to adopt your own !
If a few pups have already caught your eye, you are welcome to go ahead & shoot us your thoughts at anytime to let us know your favorites in order, and we will keep that in mind as we piece the puzzle together! It gives us a better idea of what you're drawn to, and just in case one of them could become available to you, we'll know you are interested & can then contact you about them!

If your name is up please contact us right away to let us know you are aware your family is up to make a choice! Sometimes folks' e-mail addresses have changed and we aren't able to reach them, if this happens we allow a few days and if we haven't heard from you after e-mailing you and publishing the section with your name, we must move on to let the next anxious family make their decision and plans, so keep an eye out for your family to be contacted & listed here when its your turn!

If your family has joined our waiting list for this timeframe,  or soon...

please touch base and let us know your favorites, so we can help make your families perfect match  !!

Are you ready to start raising your new puppy? Once you've learned about our family's mission in raising companion beagles for pet homes only, and are in agreement with our intention for our babies being solely companion pets, you can begin the adoption process by letting our family know about your situation;

Share details on your household, lifestyle/ experience/ routines & tell us about any family members AKA interactive Pack Members our baby would grow up with! To see more about what we like to know about interested homes, click here.

You've learned about us, Now We want to know about you, your household, and how one of our beagles would fit in!

Let us know what timeframes you would be ready for new puppy Homecoming!

Also, if you are considering available puppies,  Let us know what afternoons/evenings would be good puppy homecoming days, then we can consider you as a match for one of our currently Available Puppies who are ready to get started with their forever home!

We like to meet with folks anytime after 1pm, usually Saturdays are good but sometimes other days work out just as good!
Our mornings are busy around here taking care of all our responsibilities, so afternoon or evening appointments work best so that we can take care of things and then devote our time and attention to meeting with folks here in our home! Please remember that this is our home when visiting, not a storefront. You are invited over after we have learned about your home and family- we don't simply allow stranger to come to our home.
Also if planning to come to our home, please see our visiting page.

If you are planning to have your puppy fly home (United/ Continental Petsafe or Delta PetFirst)- then often Fridays work best as a day for a trip to the airport, but other weekdays could work as well, and again, afternoons are better since we have lots to do in the morning! Review our shipping page here.

If you are indeed ready to raise a puppy and everything works out beautifully, we can then approve you to claim one of your matching favorites as your own, and hold them off the market with your deposit until your appointment to welcome home your new sunshine acres beagle puppy!
Share your interest in favorite matching pups- you could claim your own to hold off the market
!

If you're ready to come out this weekend/week, let us know and we may be able to meet with you immediately so you can see who is still available matching your preferences, and possibly take home your new baby! Ask about coming right out to meet us & see who is still available!

After taking the time to read our site and learn about us, If you are ready to move forward towards adding your very own sunshine acres beagle puppy to your home, send our family an email  to tell us about yourself and how one of our babies would fit in there with you!

Please remember, patience and  persistence is a must when it comes to adoption, and what we like to see in those seeking our approval for adoption. This is not a technical service or product business with telemarketers on call, consider the fact that your emails are going to our family, and we will try our best to help you, in turn understand that adopting a puppy is more similar to a casting call than an online store front. There are only so many roles to fill, just as there are only so many available puppies, and we are selective- that is the beauty of what we do in seeing to loving matches whom we will want to hear from for the years to follow.

We do however try to pre-approve homes for future matches, therefore patience is appreciated, and kind persistence if we weren't able to get back to you (i.e. missed your email amongst a flood that day, it went to spam, a reply did not successfully go through etc.) Email definitely helps us keep up with everyone's details while taking care of our beagles first and foremost- can you imagine trying to take notes on a phone call from dozens of web-viewers whom we don't know, calling our home? We wouldn't get anything done here and would be constantly interrupted, so emails give us that ability to focus our attention as needed, and focus on reviewing your details together while we take a coffee break and can discuss amongst each other. This is a life-long commitment, the beginning takes dedication to a positive outcome- from the process of adopting, adjusting your puppy to your routines, to the consistency in knowing that being strong now will yield harmony later, as you successfully add a new addition to your life, to raise and enjoy for the many committed years to come.

Who has the cutest beagle puppies? Sunshine Beagle Pups !
Orange Gerber Daisies- This is a double daisy! in our front yard, and Orange beagle puppy Bailey by the flowers.

Puppy Health Care- Shots and Dewormings are kept up to date!

We keep all our puppies current on their shots and deworming's, and will send home their health folder with their new family so that when they go in for their booster (if needed) the vet can see exactly what they've had.  After the puppy booster shots in the series of 4 are completed, your pup will just need their rabies shot done in your name when old enough and a yearly booster shot when they turn 1yr old.

Since worms are a common occurrence that can be picked up / sniffed up very easily by pets, new puppy owners must be responsible for continuing the de-worming routine. This is a routine done every 2 weeks for puppies and is easy for new puppy parents to do until the vet puts them on a once a month pill. Simply pick up your puppy's own bottle of dewormer from Petsmart - good brands are Evict DS, Nemex II, Strongid or Safe-guard 4. You can order Safe-guard Canine Dewormer icononline from Petsmart (which saves over retail pricing in the store- please use our links on the ahead suggested items page when online shopping so we get credit! ) and give your puppy their routine oral dose yourself with a syringe to ensure anything new that is picked up & matured is passed from their system. They like the taste, and this helps you keep from needing that done at the vet's office, saving considerably by doing it for your puppy yourself.

If you see what looks like spaghetti in their stools, don't worry- that means your dewormer worked and that's how they are passed!

Folasike  has claimed Amy Lee's  "Caillou" Silver Runtsize Boy!
Michelle's daughter Lilah hangs out with Caillou
Like most silvers, Caillou's head is gradually lightening up to the more khaki/tan color, the dark around his face will fade,
but usually leave behind pretty dark eyeliner, and the rest of his body will be more of a stainless steel color.

available "Caillou" on left , khaki "Colin" on right)
being an only child Caillou was raised by Addie as one of her own with her little litter, so the boys think they are brothers :)
They are best buds. They hang out together all the time and are very comfortable with each other. The two chocolate boys in the litter have already gone home now so they are happy they still have one another to cuddle and play with here.... they are some of the best little pups as we go thru the office where they are in a puppy box set up with bed and toys and paper to go on... they watch as we go by toward the birthing room to check on expectant moms and newborns day and night, they jump up to come to the side if you have a minute to play , if not they will just quietly watch and wait their turn :) what good boys ~

Caillou as a newborn and growing up...

newborn Caillou already responds to voice before his eyes even open, as he perks his ears up at us.

at a very young age he was attentive and loving giving early kisses to daughter Christi as she held him soon after his eyes were open @ 2 wks.

Caillou give kisses!

while christi stood in the driveway snapping pics of other puppies he came over to lay by her ... some dogs love human contact and he is off to a great start at a young age loving people so much already!

sweet Caillou came and fell asleep on Christi's foot

He is a very friendly and loving lil guy who loves to be held, cuddled, and follow us around the front yard.

mini khaki Colin on left, runtsize silver Caillou, & small standard chocolates on right @ 8 wks.
the size difference in Caillou's paw vs the week younger chocolate small standard next to him shows he should be more petite boned and have smaller paws.

Like most silvers, Caillou's head is gradually lightening up to the more khaki/tan color, the dark around his face will fade,
but usually leave behind pretty dark eyeliner, and the rest of his body will be more of a stainless steel color.

Here are some pictures of some older silvers

We, Miss Christina and kids Christi & Cody devote our attention to properly raising our little family members for indoor companionship and match them up with the right forever pet-homes one by one!

We like to review emails together when time is available and pre-approve sincere interests who have done their research, appreciate the time we spend caring for the babies & our efforts to provide and update all the helpful information found in our website, and are patiently committed to successfully adding one of our babies to their home as a lifelong companion beagle.

Emailing helps us keep up with the details and allows us the ability to focus our attention on our babies at all times without interruption. We can get on emails when it is a good time, and when needed can easily get up to take care of things and return to emails later as appropriate.  When we are able to find a stopping point in between caring for all of our beagle babies we sit down to consider the details and compose an email back to our many excited families. Please be understanding that  this month we had the largest volume of viewers  ever. we try our best to read and respond to each and  all but it takes lots of time on our parts so we look for loving understanding families to work with .

We are a small family, not a pet store, and the care of our babies is our first and foremost priority, not sales, so please be patient and understanding of our values. Those sincere homes who understand this and wouldn't want it any other way are the families that we want to join our sunshine acres family !

Getting Ready to Raise a new Puppy? Consider claiming one of our

Younger Puppies  Ready SOON!

Each of these growing litters of puppies will be available to come home in the near future! If you will be ready for a puppy in the next couple weeks, consider our current Younger Litters that are still maturing and will be ready soon

Depending on that litter we will plan homecomings for after their mommy weans them- spending less and less time in with them (as their teeth grow in and they begin eating dry food). They begin getting over seeing her, and instead focus on people and their littermates. We like to have our babies already matched up so that once ready they can go right into their forever home and begin learning how to fit in with their human pack for the years to come.

Ask us for pre-approval to be included in the claiming process and start reviewing puppy tips to be all set for a successful addition!  To hold your spot in the claiming process, ask us about  holding your spot in our pre-approved waiting list with your $100 deposit, so that you get offered the chance to claim puppies at your turn with that deposit, before they become available to the public! The $100 deposit  is included in the purchase price, and is non-refundable, as it represents a commitment to working together. We reserve the right to not accept a deposit/ approve homes if we do not feel everyone is in agreement as a potential forever home or we don't feel comfortable with a continued relationship over the years. We like to make matches with people we'd enjoy staying in touch with, as our baby grows and matures in their responsible home. This is one of the reasons we don't have information for sending a deposit available on the website- we can send this after learning about you & approving you for adoption once we all feel comfortable. Some websites offer a "click to pay" option, or a customer service rep possibly in another state who doesn't have any personal experience with that individual puppy. We are a small family and handle everything ourselves, it can be slower, because we dedicate ourselves to our babies first and foremost, and we apologize, that's why we provide so much extensive information that you can look up the answers to most questions typically asked, such as price for the various size and color combinations, and keeping an eye on the puppies currently available- our website is updated with announcements first for everyone, before moving on to individual emails. We know that the serious people are patient and persistent, who read through the website and kindly check in, and those are the folks we feel most comfortable working with and forming a lasting relationship with as the forever family for a Sunshine Acres Beagle baby!

We are currently making matches and approving homes for adoption one by one so that once these babies are ready to begin bonding they can go ahead and enter their forever homes to start forming lifelong routines!

After you've taken your time to learn about our family and our mission in developing companion pet beagle lines for pet-homes only, and appreciate our devotion to hand-raising little house pets & sidekicks, you can begin the process by please sharing details about your lifestyle and your goals.

We provide in-depth details on our family, so please by the same token let us know about yours in order for us to feel comfortable moving forward with allowing your household to adopt one of our babies. Adoption is a life-long commitment, and we want to know that you are committed to your adoption before moving forward and spending time helping you individually find your preferences and add a new addition to your life for the years to come.

Let us know ...

  • About yourself, and any family members that will influence your puppy & household routines. We want to know everyone is committed to helping your puppy successfully adapt to your pack and learn your household boundaries in order to more fully enjoy responsible years to come.

  • About your home -
Yard, is it fenced/invisible fences or would you plan to walk
Sleeping arrangements- confined area plans for safe-places when housebreaking, ect.

  • Your preferences/ favorites-
(Please let us know about colors sizes and genders you are open to loving in your new family member! You can even put your favorites' name in your subject line if you'd be ready for a favorite)

  • Dates for possible Homecoming/ timeframes you have in mind or timeframes you are open to.

If one of these babies has caught your eye, and you are almost ready, let us know you have matching favorites, and then we can consider your sincere interest as we match our babies to their forever homes!

If you are still getting things together and would like to plan ahead,
watch for announcements on Newborns for better possible matches.
Also check out our upcoming litters page to get an idea of what we're expecting at this point.

Once you've joined our waiting list or claim your new baby, you can start reviewing our guidance pages to be all set for Homecoming Day!

Why is Puppy Guidance so important?

As your puppy enters their new home, they will begin forming their lifelong habits in their new household by seeking out boundaries and learning from pack leaders- aka humans (and existing pets).  This first week home is the best time to establish life lessons & human pack order so that they can understand you will always be their strong, wise pack leader, who will always make the best decisions in the long run and do what is best for the pack. Your attentive beagle puppy will observe your interactions, and directly learn from each of your responses- learning how you view each behavior and whether its acceptable within your pack.

From Day 1: Your Indoor Beagle is learning!  Instructing, Training and Nurturing the right state of mind from the very start is the most logical & easiest time to make lifelong impressions, so that can begin adapting and developing their responsible Lifestyle with your human pack for the wonderful years to come! By establishing yourself as a strong, dependable pack leader, they will respect your wisdom over them, and therefore follow your guidance in developing an adaptation to your unique Household & pack, to fit in and thrive in for the years to come.

The first step towards being a responsible pet parent & leader is to Understand your puppy's learning process, and What To Do (and what NOT to do) in order to successfully develop healthy habits and raise your lifelong companion pet. You can be prepared to be a good consistent leader by reading our advice from our years of experience, available to committed sunshine acres families on our exclusive Guidance pages.

Jinglebell's Khaki Mini Girl

these little khaki girl doll babies have many, many fans who have fallen in love with them!
everyday we receive emails saying how adorable each of these cuties are.
we are hoping to have a litter by a khaki mom any minute so we are holding off placing them until we see if there are more khaki cuties to offer the next lady in line for this preference! We do have folks in line that joined last year and waited for a later timeframe such as now, so we do know these girls will be claimed as soon as we allow and aren't available to newer inquiries. Thank you to everyone who showed their interest in these cuties.

Newborns

When newborns arrive, Miss Christina endlessly watches over
& nurtures each of our newborn baby beagles!

Follow our updates as we add new faces to the website
 for everyone to see collectively.

Cody as a young kid snuggling a newborn.

christi and newborn beagle puppy We announce our puppies' arrival, and when everything is stable after those first few days and sleepless nights we'll find a good time to start taking and posting our newborns' pictures so that everyone following along can see! Soon after, we will begin announcing turns to start the claiming process, and emailing those whose turn it is to let them know the good news on their potential matches! At that point, they can choose to claim or pass on their choices, and we will work through our waiting list.

Christi as a young kid snuggling up with a newborn beagle puppy.

  • We'll make announcements on turns for those pre-approved in line, and contact our waiting list families who are ready for this timeframe, and open to those puppies' colors sizes and genders. One by one our pre-approved sunshine acres beagle parents can take their turn and choose to claim their lifelong family members (or pass if they'd like to continue waiting for color/size/gender/timeframe matches) Folks in line are always welcome to update their preferences, especially if they see a new face they'd love to be considered for! We just want to see lifelong happy matches for our puppies and families, and love seeing everything work out just right!

  • Once claimed, we'll announce the decision on the website, and our families continue to watch our updates as the babies grow up here. In the meanwhile, the forever home prepares and reviews our guidance pages to be consistent in successfully raising their puppy from day one. Their mom will begin weaning them, spending less and less time in with them now that they have teeth, and the puppies will start playing with their toys, and looking to humans for all their needs. Folks often like to send along a care package, such as bed, toys, treats for mom while she nursing them etc. for their little family member to enjoy and benefit from here with his or her littermates ,and take home something familiar!   We'll set appointments for homecoming so that when they're ready, the puppies can join their forever homes to begin bonding and learning just how to fit in for the years to come!

  •

Once you've taken your time to learn about our family and agree with our mission in developing companion beagle lines for pet homes only, you can take the next step in the process by telling us about your potential home for one of our babies, so that we too can learn about you, and move forward in forming a lasting relationship with your forever home.

Ask us  about pre-approval for adoption & hold your spot in the claiming process!

We like to know how one of our babies would fit in there with you because seeing a successful addition is our goal. We have taken the initiative in sharing years worth of photos and information about our family and our passion for raising companions via our ever growing website, and by the same token we want to learn about the potential homes that come to us.

Whether you're ready now, or plan to be in the future, getting yourself pre-approved on the waiting list helps the process go smoothly, so that we can better focus on your details and desires, and help make that wonderful match happen for the happy years to come!

As a pre-approved sunshine expectant parent, you may hold your spot on our Waiting List so that we can offer you your own turn(s) to choose to claim your very own puppy during a good timeframe for you, so that everything works out just right for everyone involved. When we know everything beforehand, we can better understand your situation and help you find appropriate matches to choose from when the time is right. If planning ahead, by the time you are ready, you will have held your spot in line ahead of others who come to us after you, so that you can be one of the first in line for that timeframe. If you are ready, you can jump on the waiting list to hold your spot, as we work together to help you claim your new beagle puppy! A  nonrefundable $100 deposit represents a commitment and agreement to the process of adding a sunshine acres beagle puppy to your life. We only accept deposits from serious inquiries who know they want to get a sunshine beagle and will wait patiently for the right match, and only after we all feel comfortable.

You are  welcome to be as specific or as open as you wish when picking out your preferences on colors , sizes, genders and potential timeframes, depending on what really matters to you. Of course, the more options you are open to loving in your new family memeber, the more choices we would have to offer you sooner at your turn for different color/size/gender combos. If you're very specific on those preferences, you may have to wait for that match to be born, which is fine. Patience is a must- flexibility helps :) and its what we look for in good adoptive families for our babies, when choosing who gets to claim one of our loved ones.
See more pictures and learn more about the different colors sizes and genders you may love in your new family member
here. If your preferences change or expand over time, you are always welcome to send us an update so that we can offer you matching babies to choose from and you can claim just the one that steals your heart!

We are considering matches for each of our babies as we peice the puzzle together! Upon approval, you could be next for a darling in matching colors/sizes and gender- of course the more characterisitics you are open to, the more babies we can offer you at your turn for each.  If you currently have favorites, feel free to let us know. We enjoy matching our babies up ahead of time so that everyone can begin making plans and discussing puppy homecoming dates. Your family can begin preparing for a responsible addition to your home, and once your puppy is ready to begin bonding, everyone can be all set for the new puppy to start learning how to best fit in their forever home!

If you're ready to get started with  a new puppy now, tell us about yourself and how your favorites would fit in!

If you are not ready for a puppy, take some time to consider your options. We do have Younger Litters, and well as Upcoming Litters that would allow you more time to prepare. Our Upcoming page shows our expectant mommies and their past puppies for an idea of what babies could arrive in the near future!  If you don't feel you'd would be able to train a young puppy (going through the nibbling/biting phase and establishing yourself as leader) we do also have Adult Beagles for adoption (retiring, relocating) who have already established personalities, and often we may have Rescue Beagles looking for the right suit. Like with any new dog, you would simply need to ensure your beagle is taken outside regularly during their first week in the new home in order to establish a routine there in your home as a pack.

We like to pre-approve families one by one, You are welcome to hold your spot in the claiming process for whatever timeframe and preferences you'd like, or you can ask about adopting an available baby now!
If you are planning ahead for your future you are always welcome to submit your details to Miss C and Christi so that when we have a moment we can sit down to review your details ahead of time and pre-approve you for our Waiting List, where you can hold your spot in the claiming process to be offered the choice of adopting matches! You are always welcome to pass on your turn at that time, and may continue holding your spot for whenever everything works out just right for you!

Contacting Our Family about Adoption:

We choose to devote our time to our beagles, which is why we have gathered detailed information from our 20+ years of experience here for our interested families to take their time learning about our family, our mission in hand raising companion beagles for approved homes, and all the helpful details about our beagles, colors, sizes, happy families stories, and more, to help families fully understand the time and devotion that has been put into their new family member from day1.

We likewise want to learn about the families who come to us in hopes of adding one of our babies to their lives.

Emailing is our preferred method of communication, as this  allow us the ability to better focus on our babies and responsibilities around sunshine acres, and also allows us the ability to keep track of families' details and preferences in order to further help make the right matches happen! Phone Calls from interested customers across the nation would interrupt our work here too much for us to truly devote ourselves to our beagles. When time is available, we can choose to sit down and review potential families' details together, discussing possibilities, and replying when time allows- if something comes up we can easily get up and take care of whatever is needed here, and return to writing back when time is appropriate. Being in the middle of a phone call would hinder our awareness & ability to respond to what is going on around Sunshine Acres, so as a family we have chosen not to provide our phone number to the public so as to not only have a private family life, but to be able to devote ourselves to the care of the newborns and other responsibilities that we have here at home.

Emailing is our preferred communication,
and allows us to devote our time appropriately, focusing our care on our babies, and reviewing & keeping track of our families' details in order to see the right matches happen!

Please review our website information before contacting us about adoption- this lets customers learn all the helpful details before making that decision to move forward and meanwhile we use that time to devote to our babies. Once you've taken time to read, then contact us telling us about yourself so that we can tell you are sincere about adoption and we can feel comfortable in moving forward with helping you adopt one of our babies!

We put the care of our babies first and foremost, meanwhile offering the joy we have found in our unique companion pets to sincere, patient, and understanding families across America who truly appreciate our values and where we are coming from as a family- those who would want us to devote our time & attention to our babies first, are the families we would want to adopt our babies to responsibly raise and enjoy for the years to come, sending updates and pictures as they become a part of our Happy Sunshine Acres Family!

You can let us know if you are ready and have favorite available puppies!
Or,

You may ask for adoption approval to join our Pre-Approved Waiting List, and start holding your spot for just the right match when  everything works out just right for everyone!

The different puppy preferences you may favor are pictured & detailed here: Colors, Sizes & Prices .

If there is anyone in line ready for this current timeframe, we will first offer our puppies to those matching pre-approved folks. They can choose to claim a matching puppy, or pass & continue waiting for a future match or timeframes. We announce & begin approving new homes for available puppies after we know the Waiting List's status.

Different preference lines often become satisfied, as everyone has their own unique preferences! So if you are open to more colors/sizes or either gender it can be your turn to claim or pass on matches sooner!

Our Waiting List Lines can change quickly, as pre-approved families may choose to:

  • Claim a matching puppy,

  • Pass on the Current puppies, and choose to wait on their turn for a Future Timeframe/matching puppy.

  • Change or expand their puppy preference options at any time (Genders/Colors/Sizes/sometimes facial markings/timeframes etc.)

To hold a spot in the claiming process, most folks like to go ahead & get themselves pre-approved & join the Waiting List to hold their spot with their deposit. The $100 deposit counts towards the purchase price, is non refundable deposit, and will hold your place in line / will hold your puppy off the market as your own so others will know that puppy has been officially claimed!

You can place a deposit on a specific puppy once approved to hold them off the market until your appointment to come out or until homecoming time, or you can place it ahead of time and then apply that deposit towards the puppy you claim when the time comes. Often folks like to get preapproved and join now, and then they claim  their very own darling to bring home soon, depending on the options they were open to!

If you are planning ahead, you are always welcome to seek pre-approval ahead of time to help ensure everything works out perfectly when the time comes to find, claim, and raise your new baby beagle puppy! People are always welcome to stay on the waiting list for as long as they wish, until everything works out perfectly!

Let us know if you'd like to get yourself (& any human or pet family members!) pre-approved to choose & adopt your own matching sunshine acres baby.  Tell us about our baby's potential homelife there with you so we can feel comfortable in considering you as a good pet-home & Approving your household for the adoption of one of our babies! Also let us know what characteristics you'd love in your very own companion beagle, and If you are ready and smitten with an Available puppy, feel free to also ask about placing a deposit in order to claim one of your favorites to hold off the market till homecoming day!

Review our details so that once you are ready to take the next step you can sincerely tell us about yourself and desire for one of our babies!  Also see more about the Deposit to join the Waiting List & to Claim your own Sunshine Acres Beagle Puppy!

Keep an eye on our Current Litters and Upcoming Litters to see who is here and an idea of who is expecting in the near future.  We continually update with new litters' arrivals and new expectant mommies as time goes on. Ask about being pre-approved by our family for a puppy and join our waiting list to hold your spot in the process for when everything works out perfectly!

Its works out beautifully when folks are able to plan ahead and seek our pre-approval to adopt one of our babies. When the time is right we then begin offering their preferred matches as it becomes their turn for different preference lines. By joining ahead of time, they held their spot in line ahead of time and are ahead of others in the claiming process. Sometimes people pass due to timeframes or specific desires, so the line is open to change at any time, making it possible for folks to join and be offered a chance to claim right away, or pass and continue waiting for a future turn to claim their very own matching Sunshine Acres Babies!

It's perfectly fine to hold your spot in line for the future! If you'll need to wait a couple weeks, months, or more for a puppy to enter your home, ask about getting pre-approved for the waiting list. Often folks like to  join the waiting list ahead of time to hold their position in the claiming process. They can then wait as long as desired, and may look forward to current or younger babies, expected litters, &/ Or  future puppies. They can choose to claim a puppy at their turn(s) if everything works out, or pass & continue waiting for any reason.

Tell us a about your preferred timeframe and more about yourself & one of our babies' potential home life there in your household, so that we can consider you as a good puppy home, and begin an adoptive relationship, working with you to successfully find and add the right match for your approved companion pet home!

  • Why letting us know about your Matching Timeframes matters to us:

Once on the Waiting List- what's the next step?

Once you've made the commitment to join our sunshine acres beagle family, feel free to explore our exclusive pages for extra details and advice as your prepare for your new family member! Everyone in the family can start reviewing our puppy Guidance pages so you will know how to be consistent leaders from Day 1 for a successful puppy addition & adaptation.

Keeping an eye on this page and what's going on around here is a great idea since things can change quickly, and this is how we as a family choose to update all of our addicted puppy followers together and more thoroughly, vs writing info to each and every viewer individually. The website allows us to go in much more detail for everyone's benefit, in between focusing our time on our babies!

You are always welcome to chime in if one of our cuties has caught your eye, and you would be ready for their homecoming timeframe!  Even if they didn't match the original preferences you had expressed an interest in, we understand that with all the unique and beautiful characteristics our babies have, folks may always discover their admiration of an additional option! Let us know if another preference option would be equally loved by you! Then when we see a possibility for you to claim that puppy, we know you'd be interested!
If you find yourself smitten with a current puppy you can let us know!

If you find that any of your preferences expand or change, you can always email me with an update so I can continue to offer good matches for you to consider! We love seeing everything work out for everyone, & we like to consider the best possible matches for each of our babies. This is why we have developed our unique waiting list process for families Pre-Approved.

Planning Ahead & Keeping up with your matches helps!  Consider whether your preferred timing for a puppy to come home matches the best time frame/week stated for each litter to enter their new homes. Then if a puppy becomes available as a good match for you,  you're family would have already thought about whether you'd be ready for them and who you would be interested in adding to your household!  Thinking ahead & letting us know helps move along the claiming process.

If you're not Ready for a Puppy During these babies' Homecoming Timeframe, Let us know about your future plans for a Beagle Puppy! Feel free to send us timeframe updates, and continue checking out our Upcoming Mommies to get an idea of near future possibilities.

Don't forget our Puppy Guidance Pages as you prepare for your new addition to your life!

Beagle Puppy Care
What do I feed?

We start with canned Iams and Eukanuba Puppy and transition them to Dry Eukanuba Small Breed (which is the smallest kibble) and dry Iams Puppy.
Puppies eat twice a day- when you eat breakfast and dinner. Young puppies will generally be eating 1/4 a cup twice a day, sometimes less than that if they are a nano size. You can order a bag of Iams Puppy through our Petsmart link here and quite often shipping is free on orders depending on how much you spend on other things!

Over Feeding?
Beagles are known to eat all you give them, so be careful to restrict how much you allow them while they are young, especially for a mini or nano to stay that way. Overfeeding can lead to a stretched stomach, before the body starts adjusting to the amount of food intake, and later a larger beagle than you had hoped for.

Sometimes we get frantic calls from customers who fed more than we reccommended, saying "my puppy's tummy looks bloated" We say "cut back on the amount of food you feed tomorrow in order to feed appropriately to your little baby's size". Remember the food also expands when the puppy drinks water, so don't be surprised if their tummy looks large. A stretched tummy simply means their body was not meant to require that amount of food, and you simply need to cut back next time until their tummy is back to an appropriate size. Usually 1/4 a cup twice a day is the right amount for a new puppy, sometimes less for the smaller sized babies which again, you can always cut back its you see that it was too much. Its been shown that overfeeding a smaller size dog can lead to a larger one , just feed twice daily and carefully to keep a mini mini !!

Beagle Puppy Training
Where should my new puppy sleep?

The first step to housetraining, Bathtub setup

is setting up a confined area your bathtub for the new puppy to stay in when you aren't able to take him outside. Puppies can sleep in your  bath tub at night , with paper on one end and a doggie bed, and toys, on the other so they can use  the paper when you are busy and aren't right with them in their new house, or cant take them outside.

Crate training can come later at around 14 -15 weeks old, and you can follow our advice on doing this easily from our tips page!

By starting them from the time they can walk our puppies are way ahead of the game on housetraining and using paper !

clarice in playpen setup
Clarice has graduated to a bigger playpen setup area! She has learned to keep her bed clean, and uses the paper for hurry ups.  This setup helps you avoid accidents in your home, and allows you take your puppy outside to begin forming that routine with your schedule.

Beagle Puppy Training
HouseTraining?

Begin taking your puppy outside to a preferred spot in the yard starting their first day home. With any new dog, you will need to take them out often to begin forming a routine in your home of what door to go to and where to go in the yard.

When you get a puppy they can start out in a confined safe-area with newspaper and bedding and toys for them to go in whenever you are not supervising them in the new house.  This can be a pet playpen, a kitchen, or a laundry area.
When you are with your puppy he or she can play on the carpet and you can take them out as needed, but when you are not right there to supervise, they can be in their safe area and still have the option to go on paper until household routines are learned.

Take them out as often as possible, and begin developing a routine recording how many times they went, and around what time. Keep in mind that they will need to "HurryUp" as we call it everytime they eat, drink, wake up from a nap, or play.

Avoiding accidents that first week  learning about the new home is very helpful in housetraining.  In order to help avoid accidents, only have your puppy out on the floor when supervised, and if he or she seems to start losing interest in you and begin searching/ sniffing around, they are probably looking for a spot to go, usually by finding the scent of a spot that has already been marked as a iconhurry up spot (which is why avoiding accidents in the first place is good!)

If accidents happen, be sure to use a good product that is meant for cleaning up pet accidents, so that the scent is completely removed from their mind!

Click here to order Simple Solution- formulated to discourage remarking, which is a natural scent triggered behavior for animals icon icon

When you aren't able to supervise your puppy in their new household put them back in their contained safe-area so that they will be able to confidently choose paper rather than bed if they need to go. With your supervision and leadership your beagle can earn house priveleges for safe and more harmonious years to come.

Crate Training is good for everyone involved, whether you plan to use one regularly in the future or just when needed. Getting your pet comfortable with his or her own crate there in your home ahead of time helps give them a good option in the future when you need to go out, have someone new over, or need to travel.

cinder in crate trainingYou can start crate training after your pup can start being expected to hold their bladder through the night. b>After around 14 - 15 weeks or so, older puppies can usually start sleeping in a crate at noght, and you can plan to get up early the next morning those first few days to let them go outside, as they learn your schedule and form working lifelong routines in your home.

You can see older puppies like Cinder who have already started learning about sleeping the crate on our Older pups page here or have been using a doggie door to go out and are past the paper training stage,

Crate from Petsmart icon

Whenever you see your puppy walk into the open crate on their own, reinforce that decision with a "good in your bed" in a good job tone. We gave Cinder a treat in the crate, and she liked the experience of being in there! Teaching your dog a key command is good- our Grace knows "Get in your bed" and will happily go get in her crate whenever we need her to. She was taught this with a positive reinforcement as a growing pup- everytime she came in from outside we would toss a treat into the crate or have one waiting for her and tell her get in your bed, she would get in  and be rewarded with a treat, as well as a Good get in your bed! to reinforce she did good by going into the crate, and would close the door and let her spend a little time in there to dry her feet after coming in the house.

Its helpful to start out in a designated area, with the option of paper down, and then put an open crate in their area. They can begin going into the crate to lay down and relax, and if they still need to use the paper they can go out onto it in case you aren't able to take them out when they need to go- this can help your adjusting puppy learn to gradually sleep in their own crate, but still use the paper outside of the crate if needed. When the paper is dry a few mornings in a row, then you know your puppy can hold his or her bladder through the night and can begin closing the door, and getting up early the next morning to take them out.

Always take them out the same door, so they associate that door with going outside to hurry up, and to the same spot in the yard so they can pick up the scent of where they've gone before, and know what their outside to do! Dogs like to re-mark where they have gone before, so starting a routine of where to go from the beginning is always helpful in building those associations for them to remember for the years to come! When your new dog goes outside to 'hurry up', let them know they did a good hurry up so they will want to repeat that behavior, even on command, in the future- making for a much easier housebreaking and walk-taking experience!

New Puppy Training Tip:

All puppies go through learning stages as they develop.  Your new sunshine acres beagle puppy will be joining your home attentive to you, his or her human caregiver, and will be ready to begin learning the best way to fit in with your pack for the most fulfilling future. Take advantage of this special adapting time by helping them understand what habits & behaviors within this pack will be most beneficial so that everyone can be happy.

As a pack animal, puppies are seeking out that crucial pack order and strong pack leaders to follow, which will keep them safe throughout whatever comes in the future. Dogs thrive within a pack when the proper protocol is established upfront, by confident, calm and assertive leaders to follow for the years to come. Demonstrate your leadership skills to your new baby Beagle by establishing  the ground rules from day one, and being consistent so that he can fully learn from each experience and move forward.  That assertive communication will bond you and your new k9 addition closer together as they will develop a deep respect for you.  Communicate to your new puppy what behaviors are good and beneficial, and what behaviors are bad and will not be acceptable as a lifelong habit.  By understanding the pack boundaries, they can more easily begin adapting to your household in order live the most harmonious & happy life to their wonderful full potential as your own perfect companion pet  for the many years to enjoy together !

After the ground rules are established, your beagle will have the pridlege of enjoying fewer restrictions in the future and be given the opportunity to live an ultimately much happier life in harmony with your pack.

Be sure to Review our New Puppy Advice Pages (Ask for the link if you've been approved)

When deciding to get a puppy for the family- go over all the responsibilities that will be involved, ie, feeding, water, exercise, responsible play & consistent training. Discuss how each of these responsibilities will lead to a well-mannered dog. Also talk to each other about how as they get older you all will be taking the pup outside often, they usually need to go any time they eat, drink or wake up from a nap. While still small enough to use paper, a young puppy goes in his confined safe area, and you don't have to worry about peeing and pooping in the house because they don't have free-reign until they have learned from you and shown they are responsible in your home.

Being up front about the responsibilities will let everyone in the family see that you are each serious about adoption, and have already considered all that is involved and are willing to commit as a family effort to responsibly raise a puppy as a family member!

 No Biting allowed.

Our Number One Rule in training, Is NEVER ALLOW YOUR NEW PUPPY TO NIBBLE OR BITE ANY FLESH, even what appears to be innocent teething on your finger!    It may not hurt now, but it will later if that experimental behavior is allowed to develop into habit!

When new families come to meet our pups, We ask that No one scrath or tickle the puppies since boundaries are still being established and Do not allow the puppies they hold to nibble or bite their fingers and hands.

Roughousing at a young age encourages biting as an automatic response to the roughhands, and that type of energy can cause the wrong state of mind to develop during such a crucial learning & bonding time. Once your puppy is an established, responsible member of the pack, playing is fine because he already knows the boundaries- its simply important to first guide your young one through puppyhood maintaing a calm state of mind so that they can feel comfortable in being calm whenever appropriate in the future, and you will have a much easier time training, and developing obediance & trust, before the time comes to begin exploring life's adventures with your very own sidekick!

Establishing Respect from day one is important while the new addition is observing the pack order, figuring out the boundaries and how to begin adapting to the new household pack. Help your puppy understand and learn the rules, so that they can move forward in the right direction towards a healthy relationship with your pack and bonding with lifelong masters, so that down the road your canine addition will be a responsible member of the family. By allowing a puppy to teeth on you and bite your fingers- that acceptance of his potential dominance will result in a loss of respect for you by the new k-9 addition to your home. Respecting you as the top dog in the family pack is important, so that they will be more confident in your ability to be a stonger leader for the good of the pack and they can trust your wise discernment therefore minding whatever you -their calm Assertive leader- has to say !

Read about Puppy Guidance, for more about this Puppy Rule on our tips page. If you are a Sunshine Acres Beagle family or on the waiting list, ask for this page for our personal advice!

Be the Pack Leader
so your puppy can follow your dependable leadership.

As puppies develop, they seek strong masters who are responsible and will show them the best way to live a long healthy & happy lifestyle within the pack. They follow those masters who make the best decisions for the pack as a whole, by being upfront, firm, and consistent on establishing the boundaries and ground rule that will make for a stronger pack down the road.

From their first day home they will begin learning what behaviors seem the most beneficial to their future with your pack, and can adapt to any lifestyle that they begin learning from. This is the time to guide their adaptation so that they can learn the best way to begin fitting in with your unique pack; Be a responsible master for your learning and growing puppy by being in tune with your puppy's state of mind, understanding each situation, responding correctly so that your puppy understands the pack lesson, and can move forward in the right state of mind. The whole family must commit to a responsible instruction plan so that everyone sends the same message and is consistent in the learning process.

It is important for forever families to guide their puppy's adaptation to their unique home & lifestyle, so the puppy can more easily understand that what boundaries this human pack has and that they are firm in those rules for the good of the pack, so now its time for puppy to learn what they need to do to fit in with this strong pack & start living in harmony!

We start them off right, and now its up to you to continue raising your new baby beagle into your lifelong sidekick.  You can lead the way with the benefit of our years of experience raising companion beagle pets.  As an approved pet home who has made that sincere commitment to becoming a sunshine acres family for the years to come, you will have access to our years of experience and accumulated advice, and follow our Guidance in taking over the wonderful responsibility of raising your new hand raised family-oriented sunshine beagle baby, and helping them blossom into your very own unique Companion Pet for years of enjoyable harmony!

Preparing for the New Puppy! Hint: If you are saving up newspapers for when you bring your new puppy home, toss out all the slick ones they are not absorbent and pups slip and slide in the tub  vs. the white pages which work real well during the still goin on paper phase, right after bringing the puppy home..

Over the next few weeks they can begin going outdoors too, then it  wont be long till they are used to your home & being crated at night (we advise you how to go about this when you pick up your puppy & you can also learn about this process by following our Tips pages!) , but at first it is great to have a few stacks of papers on hand !

( we also love it when folks think to bring some to us.. we are always appreciative of those ! You can only imagine how much paper we go through each day as our little ones learn to go over on the paper.) One gal brought a box with some wee wee pads when she came to board her Sunshine beagle with us .. boy did we appreciate those to hand to each person who was driving home far away with a little pup in the car..(makes it easier to have those on the floorboard than having to pit stop the minute the puppy wines to get out to go..) LOL !  we ran out, but sure would love more if anyone has some left their pet no longer uses !

When picking up your puppy by car its suggested to bring a cardboard box with papers in it or wee wee pads for the floorboards work well when and if needed .  Also Clorox wipes are handy if needed too- we have some if need one !! Some folks start out with their new puppy on their lap , or in a crate with plenty of toys and chew toys or treats to play with .

We also advise folks to go directly to the spot in their yard where they want the puppy to "Go Hurry UP" right when you get home, put your puppy from the car on the grass or ground there.. let him or her sniff around and walk around so they dont just stand on your feet wanting to be picked up lol...    soon enough your puppy will decide to go since they were cooped up in the car and likely hasn't gone yet..  and you make a big deal out of saying good hurry up in a praise voice !! and give them kisses ! before long learning puppy will be thinking "they must like it when i go here... I want to go back to the same spot and remark it again ... and get all that praise again!" ..

we give plenty of tips on this and all the phases involved in taking home a new puppy from us so it is a wonderful and easy transition for all members of the family as you bring in one of our babies to your home. Be sure to read through our guidance pages, follow our advice/guidelines/tips, and follow-up on any of the pointers for having one of our intelligent little sunshine acres beagles join your family as a companion for the next 15 years!

Rose's "Azalea" Tri   Female with Blaze has been claimed by The Attaway family!

"Hello,
Azalea is doing great.  Thank you so much for such a wonderful puppy.  I have re-named her Lucy.  I Love Lucy has always been one of my favorite shows, and I thought if I ever got a female dog her name would be Lucy.  It seems to fit this little beagle.  The first night she cried a lot, but I didn't respond.  (kinda like a real baby!)  The next night she cried a little.  The third night, she went straight to sleep and has done well every night.  She is sleeping in her crate at night in our enclosed garage.  Our YorkiePoo also sleeps in the garage in a bed.  When the summer nights get too hot, I can move the crate inside the house with the air conditioning with no problem.  I move her crate onto our screen porch during the day and leave the door open.  With supervision, she is fine to play around on the porch with her toys; however, when she gets sleepy she goes back into her crate and sleeps with the door open.  I think she thinks of it as her bed, and I'm glad."

Addie's "Fletcher" aka "Dover" Chocolate Boy has been claimed by returning customers The Rhodes family!

Orange Luci Lu was adopted by the Rhodes family from Fletcher NC back in 2008, and they have stayed in contact, watching the website and sending periodic updates !

The Rhodes sent along their care package for Luci Lu!

"Hi Christi, Miss C & Cody,
We have been very busy here in the Rhodes household for the last 2 weeks but wanted to send an update.  Luci is doing great & we all love her dearly.  We fight daily over snuggle time with her but luckily she loves to snuggle so there is lots of time to share.  She is fitting in just perfectly.  Her & Murphy, our cat, are already big play buddies.  We haven't caught them sleeping together yet but have found some cat hair on her bed so it may be happening while we are away :o)  Training is going well as we are sure to take her out at the right times & she does her "hurry up" usually right away.

I tried a small cat crate that fit her perfectly in her box with her bed & blanket inside............. it worked like a charm.  She must like the security of it because she is doing great now.  We still have the crate door off at night so she can come out & use the paper when needed.  She has already had numerous visits to soccer practice & games, of course she is the belle of the ball as everyone wants to pet Luci.  She seems to love it.  We have also encountered other puppies on our outings & they just seem so hyper but Luci just walks along calmly with her tail wagging.  Such a difference in personality & we love it.  We are so grateful for our precious Luci & are so glad we found your website.  We love our Sunshine Beagle Baby & Luci was well worth the wait.  I have attached some pic's so you can see how she is doing (by the way she is already spoiled rotten).  We will continue to send future updates as I am sure I will not break the habit of checking the website for new puppy pic's :o)  Thanks for everything, Cari

Update from Nov. 2008: "Hi Ms. Christine, Christi & Cody,
Just thought I would send another update about our little "Luci Lu" as she has become known.  She is just wonderful!  She has really settled into life here at the Rhodes house & I don't know what we ever did without her.  She is loved by all everywhere we go & is very social.  She has basically doubled in size & can finally wear the collar we bought for her before we saw how tiny she was.  She is really a beautiful girl & wears her eyeliner thick as you like to say at Sunshine Acres.  She is still a great snuggler & seems happiest when in our arms.  We just made a trip to Myrtle Beach to visit my parents & she did soooooo good in the car.  We only stopped one time on the way down & she slept the entire way home.  For a 5 hour trip I find that pretty impressive.  I have attached a few pic's from our recent trip to the beach & some with her playing with her pal Murphy.  Thanks again for such a great addition to our family & I will continue to send pictures as she grows.  (I have to confess I still check the website to see the puppies, it truly is addicting)  Cari :o)"

Christmas update from the Rhodes!
Update from 2009: "Hello Ms. Christine, Christi & Cody,
Hope all is well in beagle land as all is great here!  Our Luci has grown to be a beautiful orange girl & has a new name; "Rotten".  I must say it fits her well as she is definitely spoiled to the core.  At night she makes her rounds to each bed to spend just a little time with Evan & Ashley then comes to sleep the rest of the night with us.  I never thought my husband would let a dog sleep in the bed but she won him over & sleeps mostly next to him.  She will be 11 months at the end of June & is about 28lbs.  Last year at this time I was watching the website religiously (which is still a weekly habit at least) for our sunshine beagle baby.  Tracy's most recent litter was just adorable as all the puppies are but of course we still think Luci is the MOST precious.

Luci is loved by all.  Everyone loves to see her coming as she is a permanent fixture at our local park for all park events, baseball & soccer games.  They love to hear the beagle bark when she announces she is there & they all OOH & AAH over her color.  One of her frequent games to play is "hide the bone".  This game seems to perplex her immensely as she paces through the house with her bone & however many toys she can fit in her mouth looking for just that perfect spot.  She just can't seem to find the right place to hide it from our cat who loves to tease her & goes after it once she leaves it alone.  Our favorite game to watch her play is soccer with Evan & Ashley.

"She is truly a joy & the perfect dog for us.  Please know that she is smothered daily with hugs, kisses & lots of love.  I have attached some pictures for you to see & have some UPC's I will mail your way soon to help with purchase of food.  Have a great summer!  Cari, Jeff, Evan & Ashley"

2010 update: "Hi Ms. Christine, Christi & Cody,
It's been some time since my last update so I wanted to send some pic's to let you see how beautiful our Luci is.  She is still the center of the household, very spoiled & getting much love from us all. Her first birthday was quite an event with presents, a cake & her own special doggie sized hamburger.  Quite a treat for Luci since she hardly ever gets table food. Luci's favorite thing to do is going to our local park when all of the kids sporting activities are taking place. "

" We are still addicted to your website & check often to keep up with all the newest cuties being born. Hope all is well at Sunshine Acres :) "

Hi Miss Christine, Christi & Cody,

This is the Rhodes family from Fletcher, NC. We were lucky to find you 4 years ago when our precious Luci came into the world & now we are ready for another Sunshine beagle to keep her company :) After years of keeping up with your babies on the website we would like to get in line for a standard silver boy. Our time frame is flexible but our target would be just after the holidays when I can take some time from work to get a puppy settled. We love them all but we especially like the blue eyed silvers with a blaze.

Luci has been such a great addition to our family we don't know what we ever did without her. She loves us all equally & seems unsettled unless the entire family is home. I have attached a current picture so you can see what a pretty girl she still is.

Let me know if the deposit for the waiting list is still $100 & the address to send it to. We are all excited at the thought of a new sunshine beagle to love :)

Cari Rhodes

The Rhodes have now  adopted  "Fletcher" by Addie to join their home!

Luci Lu's mom was Tracy, who is now retired.
Fletcher's mom is Addie, daughter of "Allie", and Allie is Luci Lu's sister- both are daughters of Tracy!

so they stayed in the same bloodline to find their newest family member we thought that was neat.

Luci Lu came with the Rhodes to pick up their new addition and see us again.  She is such a beautiful gal we loved seeing how sweet she is too !

the family told us when they joined the waiting list for their second sunshine beagle they began saving up old kids blankets and sheets, towels and even a baggie full of Eukanuba and Iams UPC symbols knowing that as breeders we can trade those in on coupons we use to buy the 40 plus pounds of food we use here daily :)  we love it when folks save those up for us and send some along here and there it really helps us afford to feed the best food so we have the cuties with gorgeous shiney healthy coats like Fletcher and Lucy above....

off they head back to the Mountains with their new little guy !

Recently  adopted Puppies!

  • After claiming a puppy, our families continue to check in and watch our website for updates as their puppy grows and becomes ready to begin bonding!

  • Many folks like to send along a care package for their new family member to enjoy here with their littermates and take home some familiar toys/blanky/bed on homecoming day! Once homecoming day arrives, we meet with the new forever family and help them add their new addition to the family!

puppies are getting snapped up !! We have heard from several folks looking to adopt a beagle that they are hard to find in the colder months since other local breeders dont have our indoor whelping /birthing room puppies cant make it out in the winter weather in a cage so we have some

Someone once told me its like reading a soap opera every day...
I just cant wait to tune in !!   She said I love seeing who is available and when they get adopted just how perfectly they match the new family who convinced you all they would treat them the best... she said I know you have so many people wanting them, you have to try to determine who will spoil them, but give them discipline at the same time  so they turn out to be the perfect indoor housepet ! - so true !!

If you are the happy family of one of these cuties, remember that we love to receive updates and/or pictures whenever you can pass those along! We enjoy seeing how our puppies are fitting in & growing up in their forever homes!

Ruby's "Piper" Tricolor Girl is claimed by Natalie
she has already sent along a care package for her girlie and littermates to enjoy !

Good Afternoon Miss C and Kids,

Sorry its been so long for you guys to receive an update. Been so busy, finally have time to sit in front of a computer.

As we mentioned before we named her Piper. She is such a joy and a ball of pure energy! The 8 hour drive back home she spent the majority sleeping, so that was great. Her stomach adjusted great to the change of water, first nights she cried for attention, but now she is sleeping through the night.

This was her the first night, she was very comfortable, lol!:

She has been attending puppy school for the last 2 weeks and is making lots of friends.

My niece MJ plays High School Tennis, so Piper is enjoying all the tennis balls she finds in the house!

She enjoys cuddle-ling up on the couch and watching tv with us:

And always finds room, no matter where it is, to "try" to take a nap, the constant camera flashes interrupt her. hahaha.

I think by now though, she realizes what the camera does, and starts to pose!

She likes being outdoors as well, but with the amazing spring weather we've been having, we haven't had much time to take her out to the parks and the beach. So those pictures are sure to come your way!

Thanks again for the opportunity to adopt this amazing girl!

I guess that is all for now I can't say thank you enough he has really helped us a lot.

Abigail's "Uno"  Silver Runtsize Boy  was adopted by the Canada family!

Hi Miss Christina!

I wanted to let you know how well Harper (my son renamed him after his favorite baseball player, Bryce Harper) is adjusting to his new home. He is such a bundle of energy and makes us laugh all the time!!! He had no trouble adjusting to his new surroundings. In fact, he walked in like he owned the place : ) I brought him to work for the first time Friday and everyone fell in love with him and wants me to bring him back every day.     Abigail's "Leo" aka "Tristan" Silver Male was adopted by the Williscraft family!

"He is simply wonderful! Since coming home and having "normal" bm's, he has had hardly any accidents, he is getting on a schedule, and even likes to terrorize Maddie. :) She doesn't mind one bit, they chase each other around the house and play outside too, as Maddie will walk on a leash, and enjoys going outside. :) "

" I am attaching a few pictures of the "boys" for you, I will send more soon, but have been pretty busy! The one of the puppy laying in Tristan's lap is just after we surprised him with him, and the outdoors ones were taken yesterday after school. Thank you ladies so much again, and I will keep you updated! Diana W. "

"Trevor is doing well. Attached are some pics. In a couple has our golden doodle Heidi in it a well. We only heard him lightly once during the night. He is doing well, going “hurry up” most of the time, only two indoor accidents first thing this morning, the rest has been out in the yard at the edge of the natural area. Trevor is bringing out the inner puppy in Heidi again and she likes to play with him.

Thanks,

Mark"

"Lutzie", Skylar's Khaki Mini Male has been adopted by Ashley & Dave Mitchell!
They have also now claimed their second sunshine beagle, Xerxes!

Ashley & Dave live in AL where Dave is starting a new business and Ashley is a student who will be home a lot!
They have a fenced in yard with a doggy door, and are looking forward to having their older beagle Winston pass on his experience to their newest addition!

"How it all started

I have been following your site for a couple of months now. My husband and I were looking for a puppy for my grandmother, who had to put her dog to sleep in mid August. This made me realize that it might be time for us to invest in a puppy of our own. We already have an 11 year old beagle that has been with me since he was 4 weeks old. He has always been around other dogs. We also had a black lab that we had to put to sleep in January at 14 years old. So, my beagle had been an only dog for a while. I decided to look for a puppy to adopt from a shelter for her, instead of getting one from a breeder. I wanted to do the noble thing and try to rescue a dog that might otherwise not have a chance for a good life. In my search, I found a puppy for her and an older dog (about 5 years old) that captured our hearts. On August 17th we set off to pick both dogs up.

My grandmother is very active for her age, so we were sure she could handle a new dog. We turned out to be incorrect and the dog was jumping out of her fence and she was not able to continue to chase it around the neighborhood. So, unfortunately she had to return the dog we adopted on her behalf. Since we had paid the adoption fee and to have him tested at the vet, he already had all medicine he needed paid for and they were able to offer him at a much reduced price. He was adopted shortly after the return, so all worked out well in the end for him.

About our dogs

SARGE

The 5 year old neutered male beagle (Sergeant or “Sarge” as we call him) that we adopted is still with us. After adopting him, we took him to the vet and found he had heartworms. This was only after a negative test and us not believing that everything was okay with him. We took him to the emergency clinic for a second opinion, where he tested positive for heartworms. I took him back to our vet the next week and they confirmed the positive test. The next week we began treatment. He got his last two shots at the beginning of October and goes back tomorrow for them to listen to his heart and make sure he can be released for exercise, since they have to rest for the entire time they are undergoing the heartworm treatment to prevent any further harm. This is only one the problems we are facing with him.

Often times the beagle rescue has told us that they sadly end up with dogs who have health issues such as heartworm, becuase the previous owner didn't invest the time of money to properly care for their beagle. We admire people like Ashley who go the extra mile for rehabilitating a dog from an unknown background.
They have been working with a dog trainer to help Sarge become better integrated with their existing dog and comfortable in their home,

"WINSTON

My 11 year old neutered male beagle (Winston) was purchased at pet store when he was just 4 weeks old. I was younger then and did not know of the problems associated with buying from pet stores. He is like my child. He has slept in the bed with me and now us for his entire life. The trainer says he is very well balanced. He had a senior work up back in March and had some abnormally high blood test results for liver and kidney values. I took him to Memphis to see the specialists and he is now on blood pressure medicine. He kidney values have come down to normal and we are monitoring the liver values. He was very overweight back when he was 5 and tore ligaments in both his knees. We took him to Memphis then to have the surgery and he has been as good as new since. He gets walked about 2 miles every day. When it too hot or cold, I have taught him to walk on the treadmill with no leash. He would like to be able to play with another dog some, but Sarge doesn’t understand how to play with other dogs yet.

Since Winston is such a good dog, and so well trained (the trainer was surprised when she kept him for two days on her 13 acre property and could walk him off leash) I would like for him to be able to pass some of his good behavior on to a puppy. I don’t want something to happen to Winston before he can pass some of wisdom on to another dog. Although, Sarge is taking some cues from Winston. A few times that Winston has seen something in the backyard and gone out the dog door to howl about it, Sarge has followed and howled with him. I also feel that maybe if Sarge saw how Winston interacted with another dog, he would learn more quickly what he is supposed to do. I feel like it is not fair to Winston, having been around other dogs his entire life, not to have another stable dog that he can be friends with. For all these reasons and that I think it is the right time in our life, I believe one of your puppies would be a great addition to our household.

About us

My name is Ashley. My husband is David (Dave). He is 35 years old and I will be 31 years old in one month. We currently live in Muscle Shoals, AL. Until about a month ago, he was the president of a large glass company in Memphis, TN. He is now working on starting a business with his best friend, while doing some consulting work. He is very much a business minded guy. I was laid off a couple of years ago. I am currently going back to school for electrical engineering. Who knows, I might get my masters and teach college for the excellent hours and flexibility they have. I am currently only taking 2 classes because of all the time needed to try and rehabilitate our recently adopted dog. My schedule is currently adaptable to the needs of our animals. We have been married for 6 years and together for 8 years. We have no plans to have children. Our beagles are our children. We like the freedom of being able to travel and do things just the two of us.

Taking care of the new puppy

YARD

We have a fenced in back with a dog door leading to a covered patio in the fence. We will probably initially try the bathtub thing you suggest with the bed at one end and newspaper at the other. If we ever moved, a fence and dog door would be a requirement before the dogs and I would join Dave at a new house. I can’t believe we ever lived without the dog door, now that we have one."

We also love doggy doors and think it is great for a pethome to have!

"HOUSE

We have dog steps leading to both couches in the living room, the bed in our room, and the ottoman upstairs in front of the window, where Winston often goes to look out and make sure nothing funny is going on the neighborhood. We have a dog bed for each dog in the living room.

HEALTHCARE

We take Winston to an internal medicine specialist at Memphis Veterinary Specialists. We will take Sarge to the dentist there, as they can do root canals and crowns and lots more than a regular vet can do. If the puppy ever needed special medical care, we already have a relationship established with several specialists at this great facility.

OUTSIDE INFLUENCES

As mentioned earlier, my schedule is flexible for the dog’s needs. Right now I am only gone for about 4 hours 2 days a week. My husband is also home a lot now, since he is working on starting a business and not having to travel back and forth to Memphis every week. When we do go on vacation, we board the dogs with our trainer, Jane. Winston has never boarded at the vet, unless he was there for a medical procedure. Jane is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA). She has traveled all over the world rehabilitating different kinds of animals. We are very fortunate to have someone like her in our area. She doesn’t use kennels. She keeps the dogs in her house and takes them on two walks around her 13 acre property a day. After the first of the year, we will probably be taking the dogs out to her property at least once a month to help Sarge get more socialized and hopefully over his fear of everything."

We thought it was neat to hear about their local in-home boarding. We also do that here for our beagles only, they stay in our home and have a big fenced in backyard to romp and play with the other sunshine beagles!
Our customers feel this is much better than going into cement floor chainlink kennels
We joke with folks its like they get to have their own vacation too, with their first family and we love seeing how our babies have grown up ! :)

" If the perfect puppy came along, the earliest we can take one is January. If you had a puppy come along that captured our hearts or one that you knew would match my preferences, we would definitely not want to pass him up as long as it is January before he needed to come home. We will be going on a cruise the last week in November. Next, we go to Jamaica every year for 10 days in December. We get back the day before Christmas Eve. Have all the family stuff for two days, and then we go stay with my mom until after the 1st of the year. She has dogs and we can bring ours, but I feel we need more time before taking a puppy with us to someone else’s house.

Color, Gender, and Marking preferences

COLOR and GENDER

We would like Khaki male. I am just partial to the guys, I guess.

MARKINGS and NOSE COLOR

I would like for him to have a blaze, as both of my current beagles do. I don’t want open markings. I would really love it if his nose would stay more to the pink side. Both the beagles I have now have the pinkish or liver (whatever they call it) colored noses. I am including pictures of them so you can see a little about our house, us, and our dogs. I am not sure if most khaki color beagles have this kind of nose or not. In some of the pictures on your site, the older khaki beagles look to have darker noses. This could just be a result of the lighting. I am not sure that you can predict the coloring of the nose overtime. I thought that maybe since you had been doing this for so long, you would know what traits in the parents would lend themselves to the puppy having this characteristic.

Winston Relaxing on the couch            In one of his favorite spots.

Sarge After using the doggie stairs to get on the couch .          Where Sarge sleeps, at the foot of our bed.

Even though there is bed for each of them, both boys sharing a bed.

" thanks so much for taking the time to read my “book” that I have sent you. I wanted to be sure to include all the information you were looking to find out. I apologize if it has taken up your entire morning or afternoon to get through my email. Please let me know if you need any other info. If not, and you believe we would be a good match for one of your puppies, let me know how to proceed with the deposit.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you the Ashley for the personalized MM's, we had never seen those before but they are so neat!

There are two different Grace beagle faces and a "Sunshine Acres" M&M's in there :)

Thanks so much to Ashley Mitchell!!!!!
Ashley has been sending along wonderful care for us and our beagles here at Sunshine Acres- one day a big bed and 6 big boxes of Iams Biscuits arrived, a nice container for dog food and a big 40 lbs bag of Eukanuba Small Breed Puppy food!!!!

Hi Christi!
Awesome!!! Yes, Yes, Yes, we want to make it official! Your mom is the best for helping to persuade the Graepals toward the silvers that they originally wanted. This is wonderful news, as we are leaving on a cruise tomorrow. I have a bed and some toys to send for the puppy, but will have to wait until we get back from our cruise to get them sent off. I can't wait to get back from Jamaica and come pick up the little sweetie pie. I probably should try to stop and enjoy our 2 vacations, instead of wishing they were over so I could meet the little one. Will he be ready toward the end of the week after Christmas, say Thursday or Friday? I do feel a little bad for Seashell's boy. He is just precious and I hope he finds an excellent home to join.

I am glad everything made it to you guys okay and that you needed the storage container. I have a few more items for you guys to send with the puppy stuff when I get back from my cruise on Monday, December 3rd. In addition to the toys, I have bought a small collar and leash for our new child. Would you guys like for me to send those with the puppy stuff or just keep it and bring it with me when we come to pick up our baby? I wasn't sure how early you started to take them out on leashes.

Can't wait to see the new pictures :) Thanks again for best news I have gotten all year!!!

Take care,
Ashley Mitchell

newly peeking eyes~!

Ashley has sent another care package, and it truly feels like Christmas around here!

Ashley and her hubby had us hold onto her baby a bit longer while they went on their annual vacation to Jamaica Couples Resort

Lutzie loves his new mommy!

Ashley checks out the MM's she sent with Grace's face on them- and Grace looks on proudly.

The Mitchells bring more gifts for Sunshine Acres!!

Bunches of big beds for the doggies, a hide the treat game, and clothes from Jamaica!! Coffee from Jamaica too!

Grace modeling again :)

I also attached a pic of his cage area and him lounging on Winston, our 11 year old.
Sarge (the rescue) is in memphis waiting to have surgery monday, but Lutzie and Sarge were getting to be good friends before we took sarge to memphis. Lutzie went with us to memphis and slept the whole way and then even slept while we were in the surgeon's office talking. Everyone thought he was just adorable. I forgot to bring your cards with me, but i will when we pick sarge up next friday.
Lutzie is such a good puppy. He even went out in the rain tonight to use the yard! Earlier today he was in his cage eating a bone and started whining. I picked him up and took him outside. He peed and came back in the dog door and then went to his cage and started whining and scratching at it. I put him back in it and he went right back to eating his bone.. He would much rather go outside than on the pee pee pads in his cage. He just uses the pads once at night and goes outside the rest of the time.

"Couldn't have asked for a better baby. He loves to sleep with our other boys. He wakes up from a nap, goes hurry up outside, plays for 45 minutes or so, and then wants to nap again. I have already taught him to sit. Incredibly smart little guy!
Hopefully everything is going well for you guys. Hope the Jamaica stuff fit everyone. I sent a bag of puppy food for you guys as a thank you for giving us such a great little baby :) it should arrive on wednesday. Do you need puppy or adult food more? What kind of adult food do you feed your doggies?
Ashley"

 "Miss C,
Since Bethany is Lutzie's sister and she has not been claimed yet, I thought I would sent some of the things that are Lutzie's favorite toys and chew things for her to enjoy. I guess if she wants to share with Tinsel or another puppy, she is welcome to spread the fun around. If someone claims her and takes her home before the package arrives, you can just pass it along to next puppy that needs some fun things to play with. Should be delivered on Tuesday. I will send you the shipment confirmation with the exact delivery date as soon as Amazon sends it to me.
These are the items I ordered for her:

Here at Sunshine Acres, Bethany receives her goodies from her brother's family and shows off her new sweater!
and plays with her toys!
Lutzie looking at his sister Bethany and Christi on the website!

 "Miss Christina,
Here are a few pics of Lutzie. The last 4 show him looking at your website, his sister Bethany specifically. I think in the last one he was trying to share his bone with her!
Ashley Mitchell"
(Lutzie sets his little bone down next to his sister's pictures trying to share it with her!)

  "Miss Christina,
I just sent you 3 emails with pics of Lutzie. The last one has some of him in a blue sweater like the pink one I ordered for Bethany, his sister. His is an X-small. I got her a small because his is getting to be a little short now that he is growing so fast! Please let me know if you don't receive all the pics and I will try to resend. I tried to not make the emails too big to go through. I just got your email on my phone. I am sooo glad you liked the pics. I thought it was really cute too! It was right before I decided to order those things for Bethany. I was looking at your site and Lutzie just would not leave the computer alone with his sister on it. Maybe Bethany should thank him a little too for reinforcing my decision to send her a few things :)"

Miss Christina,
Here are a few pics that I had on my phone and haven't sent to you guys yet. The last one is Lutzie sleeping with my 11 year old, 15 inch beagle, Winston. I could barely get Lutzie in the picture with Winston taking up so much of it!

Lutzie is doing great. He is a very smart puppy. He goes to daycare with dog trainer every Wednesday for socialization. She always says she is amazed at how confident he is. This has to come from the great way you raised him, exposing him to more than just a pen in a backyard. She says that everyone that comes out to pick their dog want to take him home with them. I saw it one day when I was there to pick him up... A mom with 2 kids were picking up their 8 month old puppy(some kind of terrier). The kids wanted nothing to do with their dog and just wanted to pet Lutzie. Saying "Our dog is not this calm. She just runs around and jumps all the time." The mom asked where I got him. I told her I did a lot of research to find the right place to get a puppy. She said that she wished she had done that also. I am sure they love their puppy, but she is not a Sunshine Acres puppy, and that makes all the difference... He is pretty much housebroken now, at 16 weeks :), unless it is raining out. He loves the dog door. Every day that it is nice outside, he goes out and plays in the backyard, taking a few breaks to come inside, crawl in my lap, and take a little nap. He knows sit, down, stay, come, shake, high five, and we are currently working on wave.

"Just wanted to send you an update before you got too busy with the new springtime babies arriving. Hopefully our next little baby will arrive soon, if he hasn't already :)  I know Lutzie will be sooooo excited when our next baby gets to come home, as the older dogs don't want to play quite as much he does. I hope the email I sent you Thursday morning about our timeframe and preferences did come through to you. I sent it from my cell phone while at school, so let me know if you didn't get it and I will resend.

Keep up the great work raising those special little cuties for all of us to enjoy!!!
Ashley Mitchell"

March3rd: "Sometimes, something just speaks to you, like our adopted baby, Sarge (the rescue beagle). Lord, if I had known all that we would go through with him, well I probably would have adopted him anyway, but it has not been easy. So many health issues, it has been hard for us to deal with the behavior issues, which is really only that he is scared of soooooooo many things. I just can't understand how anyone can treat a dog, especially a beagle that way to make him so scared of everything.

Not to discourage anyone from adopting, but this is what we have gone through with Sarge:
August - adopted him, found out he had heartworms and whipworms
September - started treatment for heartworms, he had to be on crate rest and was so anxious we couldn't put him in a crate without him breaking out, contacted behavior specialist
October- second round of heartworm treatment, should have been continued crate rest, but he would stay in crate, so we had to be home to watch him.
November - heartworm treatment over, yea!!!! Took to a doggie dentist, had to have 8 teeth removed from all the abscesses he had. Dentist said he probably was in pain 24 hours a day before this happened.
December - We were out of town/country, torn ACL.
January - Took to specialist, fixed knee. Found out he is actually, 7-8 years old instead of 4-5 years old based on eye aging of specialist instead of teeth aging by regular vet.
February - recovery from knee surgery. Took to internal medicine specialist, because of consistent cough. She thinks it is from heartworms, but not sure yet without more tests.
March - recovery from knee surgery; bone is healing well, but not completely healed yet. Have to go in 9 weeks for more x-rays.

I know that you always say on your website that people don't know what there getting into when they get a dog with an unknown background. I will say that doing the "noble thing" has cost us a lot of money so far, at least $7,000. When you look at that amount compared to what you charge for a puppy, it is hardly a decision at all. Of course, we would not trade Sarge for anything at this point. We are committed to giving him at least a few good years of life. Just thought you might be able to pass this insight to some other people. I would not want to discourage anyone from adopting, but they need to know what they might be getting into when they do adopt.

I am very happy to be dealing with someone that i know cares about their dogs. So, I know I would absolutely love any puppy you would bless us with. I just know with you I can specify color/markings and all of your puppies personalities are miles ahead of anyone else who ever thought about breeding beagles :) You definitely do the breed justice.

"Just wanted to send you these pics that my husband had sent to me.

1st and 2nd pics are of our three boys sleeping on the couch together. Winston, is suppose to be lemon, who knows that is what he was registered as though. Winston is 11 years old, 15 inches and 32 lbs. Sarge, our adoptee, I think is chocolate. He is between 7 and 8 years old, 13 inches, and 24 lbs. And last but, definitely not least, Lutzie. Lutzie is a little over 8 lbs now at 4 months old. I thought maybe seeing them all together would give you a better idea of what we already have. And maybe a clue as to why I am a little more drawn to the easier to spot unique colors. It is pretty easy to notice all the ones we have are unique colors. Lutzie is the first one that I looked for a unique color on. I just lucked into the other two.

The 3rd pic is of Lutzie's little play area, so you can see where he is in the 4th one.  He is not spoiled at all :)
The 4 pic is when Lutzie fell asleep in his toy box. My husband said he got out of the shower, and knew he had put Lutzie in his cage area. He kept looking for him, but said that when Lutzie's head was down he was flush with the toy box and just looked like a toy. When Lutzie finally woke up and lifted his head, my husband said he just had to get a pic to send to me.

We still keep the pee pee pad in his cage area, but he has not used it in weeks. He goes outside. I think it time we take it out. We definitely will not need to buy and more pee pee pads for the new puppy, as Lutzie has so many left over. He did so much better than I ever thought a puppy could with housebreaking! I don't know how you do it :)

I will be sending you something soon for March for the puppies. I am working on getting a care package put together for when we claim our new little one. I just had midterms last week, so everything has kind of been on hold. Just now trying to get caught up with everything not school related.

Take care :)
Ashley Mitchell"

"Last group of pics. I was doing school work the other night. I knew both the dogs were next to me on the couch, but I didn't realize how they were sleeping. Sarge had laid his head on Lutzie. They were both snoring and loving their nap buddy. I thought they were just so cute!

You can kind of see Sarge's messed up ear in the pic. The vet says it looks like someone glued it together where it looks bent. Must have happened when he was pretty young because it wound up growing together like that :( Don't know if you would have noticed or not, but wanted to explain incase you did. People can be so cruel. He is a really sweet dog.

I am done bothering you with pics for today :) Tell me if I am sending too many. Hope our new baby arrives soon :)

Ashley Mitchell"

"Miss C,
I ordered you some small breed Eukanuba food and more bully sticks. They should ship on Monday and deliver to you on Wednesday this week. Just a heads up, so you can be looking out for it.

Ashley Mitchell"

I sent my puppy care package today:) Looks like it will be delivered on Wednesday. I was trying to get it sent out last week, but had to wait on everything I ordered to arrive. I would've just sent it straight to you, but didn't want you to have to receive several little packages. Most of it arrived on different days and in different packages. I included the link for you to track if needed. I just a sent a bed, some toys, and a few teething treats for our whoever our new little guy turns out to be:)

Lutzie is still doing wonderfully. I think he wants us to claim Kiki's baby. The quicker he can have a friend closer to his age to play with, the happier he will be:) He was not thrilled today, as it rained most of the day and he had to play inside. He just loves playing in the backyard on pretty days. I have two dog cots outside in the backyard and he will take breaks and nap on them in the sun looking adorable:) His eyes are just the most gorgeous things in the sun!!!

Hope to claim a little guy soon and start anticipating the homecoming day:)
Ashley Mitchell"

"Lutzie went to daycare today. When he got home, we gave him a bath and fed him. I also put a new handwarmer in his dog and changed the batteries out the beating heart in his dog. He got up once to go outside and pee, but has been napping in his crate ever since. Such a little sweetie pie!!!
Ashley Mitchell"

The Mitchells have now claimed their second sunshine beagle, Xerxes by Kiki!

"I thank you for all that you do to raise the best little puppies ever!!! My dog behavior specialist consistently says that Lutzie is the best puppy that comes to daycare:) She says he is so confident and well behaved. I will be going out there next Wednesday, during spring break to observe and help her during daycare. Maybe I will have some more first hand experience to share after then. I know everyone in our neighborhood thinks he is the cutest thing they have ever laid eyes on:) We think so too!

We appreciate all that you do!!!

Athena's Orange Female with two spots on the top of her head is claimed by the Goss family from High Springs Florida.

her new family is coming up from fla. to meet with us at the charlotte airport park like area where we plan to meet with others coming in by airline from Birmingham , and driving from Virginia to meet us there as well ... busy day ahead friday for Athena's litter heading to various parts of the country ..
two of her boys are flying to new homes  too:) via United Petsafe .

thanks for your interest in this sweet girlie everyone ... she's been claimed now by a family in line for tri girls who asked to switch their preference and get this doll baby who had stolen their hearts for Valentines day and come to the mountains of Nc. to see some snow all in the same trip up  while they had time off .
we were happy to see them get the one they wanted and it all work out so well for their visit to North Carolina .

we met with the Goss family in Charlotte at the airport right before her brother's new mom flew in and met with us from AL.

they got to let her brother sit in the bed they brought for her so his scent was on it and she'd have something familiar in her new home.

"Hi there!  Just wanted to give you all an update on how things are going with Athena's beautiful daughter.  After a long weekend in the mountains, we finally named our little beauty-Abigail Caroline Molli Goss.  :)  The kids couldn't decide on just one name.  Anyway, she was a hit on the trails and we told everyone where we found our little sweetie.  Abbi went to Linville Falls, visited the caverns (inside my jacket most of the time), and relaxed by the roaring fire of the cabin.

Abbi has the sweetest personality and LOVES to cuddle.  She has trained very well and is getting close to being house broken.  She has the prettiest "sit" and does an adorable little head tilt when we talk to her."

"We are so happy with her and I will send you a few pictures to show you how much she is changing.  What a beauty!!!

Love,
The Goss Family
Jason , Kelli, Thomas and Ryan

p.s.  i have to tell you, we take so many pictures of her, it was really hard to narrow it down.

p.s.s.  today, our alarm went off in the house and ADT called and eventually sent police to our house.  turns out, our little houdini figured out how to climb out of her baby gated area in the master bathroom and escaped into the rest of the house.  No Accidents.  No destruction at all.  Just made us think that there was a burglar in the house.  The police said that they couldn't find  any intruders, just a baby beagle who had learned how to climb.  :)  smart little cookie.  :)"

Maisy's "Sparky" Orange Boy  has been adopted by the Vichot family from CA

They had originally chosen Madison's chocolate boy, but told us they really wanted a bigger beagle and asked to claim Whitman by Athena, thinking she was one of our larger dogs.  As homecoming time approached we let them know in our opinion Whitman was going to be smaller than his littermates, and suggested they consider Sparky. After seeing his pictures they agreed that he was just what they were wanting and he flew home to join their family in Downey CA!

picking up their baby Gabby
They brought toys for Bethany and Tinsel !

Hi All,
We just wanted to let you know that Gabby is in her new home.  The drive home went very well.  Gabby was excellent.   She is settling in too.  Since the days are warm and sunny, she has been outside playing. She is already doing her peepee and poopie outside all day long.   She does well at giving us signals that she has to go out.  We set her up in a small alcove next to the kitchen, but I don't think she liked it.  Today we found her asleeep in her crate.  She went in all by herself!  I am just so amazed that she is so calm, but also so lovable and playful.  She just loves to give lots of kisses.
Thank you all again for doing an amazing job of nurturing these little babies!.  We just love her!

Elaine and Dave

Hey!
We just wanted to send a quick update on Wrigley Morehouse (from Daisy's last litter). Today Wrigley turned 6 months old! He is such a fun puppy and VERY smart. Tonight he graduated from his puppy beginner class at Petsmart. He completed his "test" like a champ! He is awesome at sit, stay, lay down, take it, leave it, drop it, come when called, cradle and massage, and even impressed his class with his "special tricks": shake and high-five! The only thing he struggles with is loose-leash walking because all he wants to do it play with the other puppies as he walks past them. We are working on this one though. Wrigley was by far the smallest puppy in his class even though he was the oldest. His buddy "Tucker" is a great dane, and his other friends "Lou" and "Abby" are both boxer girlies. They had a lot of fun together and everyone in his class is moving on to the intermediate class together in a couple weeks.

Thanks for giving us such an amazing puppy! He is a great addition to our family (definately like our little baby since we don't have any kids yet).

I have also attached Wrigley's graduation picture from tonight. He is such a cutie!!! We love him SO much!!!

~Leah Morehouse (and Jonny and Wrigley too!)

Available Adults

If you are looking for more.. Check out our Available Adult Dogs, Retire, Rehoming, and Rescue pages,
we are working on adding a few adults to the retiring section soon.

Adult Khaki Nano Happy!

He is too small to be able to breed and would be better suited for a pet home!

nano Happy sits behind Hope(Grace's daughter we kept) in our acreage back yard. Runtsized Sugar in the background was retired to a pet home who also got an older pup.
See more about available dogs on the pages ahead

Recently Adopted Adults

Lizzy went home!

" She sleeps with Katelyn and with me!  She is the exactly the same as when she was a puppy!  We love her!  She loves us too!  We have this old recliner that she use to love to sleep in when she was a puppy...and it is like she remembers it!  She thinks it is hers!  Thank you so much for letting us have her back, Katelyn couldn't be happier!

Tootsie was fixed after the emergency c-section she needed.  she lost her litter , but raised one for another mom who didnt have experience or milk .. such a sweetheart  ! our retiring adult mini chocolate mom Tootsie finds her forever family  !

  • Bailey was adopted by the Swanson family!! They had previously had two male beagles from another breeder here in Nc who's dogs werent bred to be indoor pets as ours are .
  • Abbey was adopted!
  • "Daisy" recently found a perfect matching home with a family who already had one of our beagles by Bonnie- a fixed male who needed a playmate like Daisy doggie to hang out with !
  • here the two are in her new home after a fun day of play they are best buds now !
  • "Punkin" went home with a family from charlotte who wanted a adult pet happy to be indoors with them !
  •
  •   " Sugar" and "Tiger " both got to go home with the Mitchell's to be pampered and spoiled in their Athens home !  They had had two beagles before and decided to do it again and took both !
  • "Baby girl" found a great home after she finished raising her pup. Then they asked if we ever retired Carla to have her too !!
  •
  •  mini "khaki" has found a great pet home! she hadn't had any puppies in years. Her new owner lives near the beach and had a neutered male beagle mix who needed a playmate/companion. By letting some of the adults go to great one on one homes we often get to keep a few upgrades on the line we are working to Develop. We've improved and now our khaki puppies shed less than she did and are more petite.

read about our many successful adult adoptions on the retire/rescue pages ahead... we sometimes also take in rescued beagles to find a good home for them rather than see them go to a animal shelter we love the beagle breed so much its the least we can do !
