"Wonka"
Chocolate Boy with a blaze
has flown to his new family now !!
Hello
After a couple of years of being a no-animal
home and allowing us the time to truly make a rational
decision (not just one from grief), we feel it is now time
to bring a new animal into the home. Our blessed Yeller and
Bear both passed away while our son was in college, and my
husband lost his buddies. My husband grew up with a beagle
mix, and I thought I would surprise him with a beagle this
holiday season. I have done all types of research, and I so
wanted to find a reputable breeder close to home - Dover,
Delaware - and I all I have to say about that plan is that I
should have just contacted you first!
My husband
likes to work in the yard and in his "garage." Yeller,
especially, used to be his buddy as he puttered around, and
he does miss the companionship. I enjoy the outdoors, but
hanging in the garage is not really my "cup of tea."
We will be empty nesters this summer when our only son
marries his college sweetheart. He is living at home to
save money, so there will be three responsible adults to
help the new puppy become part of our family. My son and I
are both teachers, so we know how important consistency,
love, and "no" are.
I, however, am part of a close
family with lots of nephews and nieces, whom all have dogs.
When we get together, the dogs (golden, whippet, jack
russell, and malti-poo, plus my one sister's mixes) are
often there, so it is important that he be social. One of
my sister's is a Vet, so he will be getting excellent
veterinary care.
Once he is trained, he will sleep on his
bed in the crate or in our room.
We live in a
neighborhood with large yards. We have a 2-acre lot, and we
have it enclosed with an invisible fence. In addition, we
all like to hike, so the puppy would become part of the
hiking "team." My son also runs, so the puppy will be
getting plenty of exercise. My husband and I like to take
walks, so the puppy will just become part of the routine.
As I initially stated, I was hoping to do this by
Christmas, but I realize now that is probably not possible.
However, because my son and I are home for a couple of
weeks, it would be fabulous if we could get the baby
sometime soon, so we can help him get used to us while we
are home full-time. We are looking for a tri-color standard
beagle that is social and energetic but not hyper. We
prefer a male, but understand that is not always an option.
We are also willing to take an older dog.
Because we
live in Delaware, we are probably looking at having the dog
shipped to us. The drive is approximately 10 hours each
way, so it would be a long drive for a weekend.
I
look forward to hearing from you regarding our options.
Take care
Lynn

they had asked about our Maverick due to price of tri
colors being less...
we decided to offer wonka for the same as tri colored
price and they took us up on it !
( we never come down on prices of younger puppies but
this winter with both kids in college Miss C. is more open to it on
older pups so they find good homes too !!)
Hello Christine
Wonka is settling in
well with our family, and he seems to be very happy. He has lots of
energy, and we get a big kick out of him.
Take care Lynn
