Sunshine Acres Beagle Puppies

    * Please take the time to read our 2nd page, "Indoor Companion Pets vs. Hunting Hound Bloodlines", for background information on why our beagles are so different and the years our family has devoted to developing our unique lines for pet homes only. We prefer to work with people who show a sincere interest, not only in adopting a family member, but also in working with our family to adopt one of our babies, by being patient and following our advice to successfully make a lifelong addition to your family and a continuing positive relationship with your puppy's first family, Christina, Christi and Cody, here at Sunshine Acres.
(After the 2nd page, you can follow the link at the bottom to see our available puppies and contact us with your family's info to be approved to take the next step.)

Virtual Tour of Your Puppy's First Home!

Where your puppy got their life started right!
As a mother and two kids, we have devoted our family & homelife to raising our baby beagles to be family members, not hunting hounds. We have come a long way, starting with our beagles in the NorthWest when daughter Christi was born in '90, and son Cody born in '92 just outside Seattle area, then moving down to our grandparents' East Coast, we have developed Sunshine Acres Beagles through stages and are now residing in the rural area of Monroe NC.
We live in a small family home situated on wooded acreage. Coming from having litters in our bathroom floor, we have worked hard and were happy to finally add on to our home with the addition of our office and whelping room to help us in our mission of producing companion beagles for indoor lifestyles!
This is our home, and our family meets with sincere adoptive homes by appointment only. We do not allow strangers at our doorstep, and we like to get to know folks via  email before moving forward.  We are a small family,  personally caring for each  of our pups here at our home full time. We don't have the cement floor kennel environment. We don't have a staff that sits and  answers calls all day. We're not in the business for the easy sell, nor open to all markets.  We raise companion pets for approved pet homes only, fulltime here at home, and develop good relationships with  matching forever adoptive homes across the nation.

Our Office Room- Its Puppy Time!

Grace sits on the office couch- she thinks people come to see her! She is always very good and calm meeting visitors, and is  a perfect spokesdoggy!
The left door in the picture above leads to the living room- another common hangout for the puppies! As the kids watch Tv or sit at the computer, there is often a puppy to be found in someone's lap!
Here's the Puppy Room (aka our "Office"!)
We spend lots of time in this room taking care of the puppies! Puppies begin learning paper training. They are offered the choice of bedding and paper, and learn that paper is the best place to go, keeping their bed clean. We simply place a new sheet of paper down over their "good hurryup", and then after a few layers we take it all out and start over. This is a daily responsibility, morning, afternoon and night, as we care for all of our beagle babies personally!

(We are using these toy boxes(above), you can do the same thing in your tub, or build your own out of shelving! We put plexi glass under our white shelve boxes. This setup is for anytime you are not right there with your learning puppy- having a safe designated area where they can know exactly what to do is best to avoid accidents and starting bad habits. When you are with you puppy, you can guide their actions in the new home in order to set routines and good habits as they settle in!

Lady comes in to nurse her pup.
The moms spend less and less time in with their puppies as the paper training / and weaning process goes along..
Meanwhile the mommies and daddies get to have several wooded acres to play around on behind our home,  full of woods and nice huge shady trees.

By the time of homecoming, puppies have been adjusting to not see their canine mom anymore in order to make the transition easier, and the moms have been thinking more about etting goodies on the deck from the kitchen, and playing with the rest of our pack again!
Famillies can begin bonding with their new family member and teaching them how to be a part of their human-pack & household!

(So please use inside voices when visiting puppies in the office so that nearby mommies and newborns aren't startled by the new voices in the next room.)

One of our First Priorities in the morning is checking in on our mommies, newborns, and expectant mommies in our
    Nursery & Whelping Room

Here the newborns are born into a clean, warm and constantly supervised environment. The mommies each have a doogy door to go outside whenever they like, and above the shower stall lined areas there are heat lamps for the puppies that can be turned on if necessary.

We will help her watch over them to be sure they all get to nurse and get cleaned regularly.

Bonnie can go outside through her doggy dooy to stretch her legs and get fresh air whenever she'd like.
We are so happy to have the whelping room to give our puppies their best start in! We spend countless hours raising these little ones, and are glad that all the hard work which we have put into this was worth it.

The Deck / Our Back Porch & Yard

We make sure all the mommies are spoiled and getting over-the-top nutrition as they do a good job producing wholesome milk for their little ones & replenishing themselves!
    Picture
The back Deck is a favorite hangout for our pack of beagles, including mommies who have been weaning their puppies and are getting back into pack life here at Sunshine Acres.
There is always something yummy for them- whether its portions of the grill out, or snacks from the kitchen!
